When is Electric Light Orchestra getting in? Have I ever gotten into how much I love that band on here? Jeff Lynne is a fucking genius.

Sadly, yes. They have a shot eventually. They are in a commercial for the worst beer in America if I'm not mistaken. That should help their cause.

Yes but do it again because they fucking rock. Mr. Blue Sky is one of the greatest compositions of all time.

You've become such a music troll. You of all people should appreciate one of the most under-rated rock and roll bands of all time. Jeff Lynne is one of the most gifted musicians in the history of rock and roll. Hell...just ask the Traveling Wilburys.

I put songs I'm ashamed to love in the proper place. I'm being straight forward in this thread. I love the Wilburys much more than ELO, but I see the value in ELO. They might make it in at some point. I just don't love the music as much as you do.

Don't bring me doooooooooooooo-ow-ow-ownnnnnnnn.

Heart with six votes? I need some man cards turned in at the front desk. Our male secretary Jigo will be happy to collect them and give you directions home.

Explain to me which commercial sucks the most:

Please disregard post 1986 made for light rock/after Ann discovered the dessert buffet Heart and you can make a case.

I dig Heart and, since some woman/woman group is going to get in anyway, I'd rather vote for Heart than Donna Summer, Chaka Khan or that motherfucking botched abortion Joan Jett. Just my 2 cents.

I guess I just don't get the shame. Is it because he sings upbeat tunes in a high voice? When they were at their peak, they sounded an AWFUL lot like The Beatles..but with better arrangements.

The best thing about The Wilburys was Roy Orbison's hook in "Handle With Care." Great song to sing in the shower.

I'm soooo tired of beee-in lonely/ I still have some love to give. God, what a great voice.

Once a month I go through my iTunes library, pick out a classic rock band I don't have that many songs of, and listen to more to decide which to add. Looks like ELO will be this month.

Well, I gave you basically everything you need. If you can get through the first couple minutes of some terrifying stuff in Fire On High, it's one of the coolest songs you'll ever hear.

Who are the two assholes who voted for Donna Summers.

Like, okay, Donna's music is okay, but it's fucking disco. And she isn't a HOF'er.

Probably the biggest factor for me is whether a band or person had some type of influence or help move forward a certain genre of music.

I was glad to see The Cure finally on the list of nominees. They've influenced alternative bands for 30 years. Newer music still gets compared to them and current bands still cite them as an influence.

I am a fan of ELO and can see them getting in some day. Don't know if they were hugely influential though. They were some production things in the 70's they did and they do have Beatlesque qualities so that helps.
