Why does the version of "Don't Bring Me Down" posted sound less upbeat and techno than the one I have?

You can tell there are subtle differences between the one you posted and this one.

I think I'm hearing it too. Wondering if it might just be the quality of the recording?

In any case...that's probably their best known song, but definitely not their best. I'd be interested to know which songs you like best.

Hey, I have an idea. Since Guns and Fucking Roses is up for a nomination, let's stop with that fruity ELO shit.

That's rock and roll baby.

Few bands have had as good a run as Guns 'N' Roses did in the late 80s/early 90s. The Beastie Boys' "Paul's Boutique," however, is a top-5 hip hop album of all time. Some good groups this year, fo sho.

GUNS AND MOTHER FUCKING ROSES

They're the very first rock band I got into. So of course I'm going to vote for them.

Guns N Roses were always over-rated. Axl Rose had a nails-on-a-chalkboard voice and was too much of a douche to keep the band together. They had 4 hit songs with a bunch of barely above average stuff and people treat them like they were Led Zeppelin or The Stones. They were a bunch of guys who were extraordinarily talented, who beyond their hits weren't what they've been made out to be. So over-rated...

And don't give me the gay ass, "pulling my man-card" bullshit either. I love Rock and I love Blues. I just get irritated when people suck off Guns N Roses.

Now...Slash is the shit, and I liked Slash's Snake Pit better than anything Guns ever did. Hell, I liked Velvet Revolver better than Guns N Roses.

Appetite for Destruction was what it was, a welcome slap in the face towards the Poison's and Crue's on the singles/hit radio crowd. People proclaiming it brought metal/hard rock back into favor obviously weren't listening to music nearly 2 years prior when Master of Puppets was release

Appetite for Destruction has sold over 28 million copies that's pretty damn good, and the 4 hit songs you mentioned are still huge today. The other minor hits were good, just don't get as much attention.

Not sure Guns N Roses deserve to get in on their 1st nomination. Just doesn't seem they had a major lasting impact or influence. They were huge for a period.
There's some of Appetite for Destruction that hasn't held up well over time. Lyrics and music from some songs almost seem like a Spinal Tap like parody.

Just don't think it's their time so soon and if they get in it should be after a wait and others go in ahead of them.

I guess I just don't get the shame. Is it because he sings upbeat tunes in a high voice? When they were at their peak, they sounded an AWFUL lot like The Beatles..but with better arrangements.

The best thing about The Wilburys was Roy Orbison's hook in "Handle With Care." Great song to sing in the shower.

I'm soooo tired of beee-in lonely/ I still have some love to give. God, what a great voice.

Fucking Orbison is a PIMP.

It's a shame he is becoming a forgotten footnote in R&R history. That voice is golden.

EDIT:

If Heart beats The Cure in this poll... I have lost all respect for the newbies we have allowed to join this website. Are you serious? 35 years of great influential music is losing to two sisters who only made it in rock because for the first few years of their career they pretended to be Satan-worshiping Hard Rock Lesbian Lovers? SHAME!

That was originally recorded in 1976...

That is how good they still sound. Again, longevity.

Here's Adele talking about the influence of the Cure:

Just too much musical influence to ignore.

The last 5 seconds sums up their nomination...

Always been a fan since I picked up one of their import LP's at Record Revolution @ Parmatown back in '83.

I chose Guns n' Roses, but I'm not sure how well it would go considering how Slash and Axl Rose hate each other now.

Never got The Cure either. Not a fan of that self-pity bullshit. Literally can't think of a single song by them that really gets to me.
