Lebron left Cleveland for Miami because he didn't want to have the burden the load to carry his team to the championship. But that's basically what he had to do this year in the playoffs. Bosh was injured and Wade was ineffective most nights. If it wasn't for Lebron carrying his team on their back in game 6, they would have been eliminated against Boston. Basically he did what he could have done in Cleveland.

LeBron never had the mental aspect down here, but Wade is being a little underrated now. He's a superstar still, something James just never had here. Part of the reason James finally got it is b/c he was "comforted" by having Wade next to him, at least IMO.

The difference is he didn't have to do it EVERY night. He could just score his points and his team would do the rest. Plus his teammates' balls don't shrivel up in the moment.

And they didn't even have to go through Chicago.

Wade's ability has declined dramatically. He may only be 30 but he is going on 37. Mike Miller has a back that is made of glass and he's locked up for five million a year for the next two years with a player option on the third! Do you think he is going to give up that type of money? Doubtful.

Chalmers, Haslem, Anthony and Battier are all making sizeable contracts for the next two years.

That leaves them with zero room for legitimate free agents. The largest contract they can offer is 3 million per year. But is Arison going to do that and be put even further into the high tax? Their revenue can't be all that great. I mean they can't even sell out games for the NBA Finals. They are extremely hampered and can't do much about it.

Miller will be amnesty'd.

Money isn't an issue for Arison. He pretty much blew a lot of revenue just for this championship.

Also, keep in mind that their players have shown that they are willing to take less money for the sake of winning.

The big issue for Miami will be finding a legitimate center that can play defense. Their biggest obstacles going forward are going to be Dwight Howard and Andrew Bynum.

Forgot about the amnesty. Completely forgot about it. Thanks for pointing that out.

Also, Miami is on the verge of signing one of the largest TV deals. It's rumored to be in the neighborhood of 100 million.

Money isn't going to an issue with the team staying together. Ultimately, it will all hinge on how healthy they stay.

They've kept two often injured players on the court when it mattered (Wade, Bosh). If that continues, they can win another but if Wade ages quickly, I think they'll have trouble winning more than 2 (total).

Honestly, Its just a big moneyfest. Cleveland isn't a big enough market for a prodigy like Lebron, so he made a deal with the devil to go to south beach. After the Olympics, that devil David Stern told him if he went to the bigger market in Miami, he would get him his ring there because he could line it up for him to go play with DWade and Bosh. In Sterns eyes financially it was what is best for the league. Stern doesn't care about the little guy. So, I think Lebron quit in 2010 because he knew he was leaving anyways, he just needed an excuse to bail out of the playoffs (elbow). However, Lebron is too good, so at that moment it should have been clear that he was set up to leave after that faked injury. At the same time while Lebron was riding it out in CLE, Miami was making moves to give itself cap space to prepare for Lebrons coming.

It is of upmost importance that we get a second superstar next to Kyrie. If we do not, and Kyrie Irving becomes a top 5 player, if he wants a ring, he will be gone. David Stern will not sit around and watch cash cow Irving rot away his career in CLE winning nothing. Stern will try to tempt Kyrie into going to a bigger market to play by guaranteeing him a ring and one or two other superstars. Same thing he did with Lebron. So, we need to make moves, and we need to make them now to ever have a fighting chance in this league. Our window of time is small. You can not rely on "player loyalty" when they want a ring. The prize of going down in history is greater than the temtation to stay "loyal" and lose all that. So, get it done, Grant.

Edit: oh and I think that Lebron tanked on purpose last year just like he did in 2010 on purpose. He looked like he was doing it on purpose. I do not think he "choked." I think he was told to play poorly, so the league wouldn't look as bad. Because everyone knows that if they won the title their first year together there would be problems. I mean the Mavs were a good team, but I just think Miami lost on purpose more then the Mavs won undisputably.

Pretty much this. But I disagree that Stern doesn't care about the small market teams. He represents all owners. His responsibility is to make them as much money as possible. In this case, everything that has transpired with LeBron since his free agency has made the league a lot more popular. Its made money both for big owners and little owners. Really, the only owner that may have been negatively impacted financially has been Dan Gilbert. Regardless of one's personal feelings, the league is wildly popular right now.

It's fitting that LeBron James wins an NBA Championship and the Finals MVP title where only 3/4 of the actual season was played.

Bosh was 14 & 8 on 49.3% shooting in the playoffs this season (and 7 of 13 on 3pters). Wade put up 23 & 5 & 4 on 46% shooting.

When was the last time someone not named James did anything like that in the playoffs for the Cavs?

Oh, and I forgot to mention ... they also defended their positions, didn't create exploitable situations, and made big plays that only players with their skill level can do.

You can't discount that.

Every player on our rosters seemingly created a problem for every one they solved.

Congratulations to LeBron. No matter some of my personal feelings, the guy works hard night in and night out. He takes plays off, but he rarely ever takes a whole night off and he's done that for 9 years straight. He deserved his ring.

Dwyane Wade, did not.

LeBron didn't take plays off in the playoffs (oo nice word play). In the regular season, he always has seemed too. Ya and Wade takes months off. I think he took all last year off actually.

But if Durant woulda won.....

Thats just a terrible excuse. A ring is a ring. Every other team wanted it too this year. People can make the argument that it was even harder this year with the condensed schedule and all the wear and tear it put on those guys. That is why Mike Miller and James Jones (reportedly) are probably gonna retire this year. Both are relatively young.

This ring means way less to Wade than it does to James. Wade already had his ring in an amazing finals performance in 06, that was just as good as Lebron's this year.

But yeah, the guy earned it.

Dude it was a joke that went along with all the 3/4 quarter jokes this year.

when was the last time as a cav that lebron was willing to play the 4, go down in the post and do the dirty work to facilitate opportunities for his teammates like he did for the heat? i'd be willing to wager that Z, Boobie, and Mo Williams would have all shot pretty damn good if they had as many wide open looks as chalmers and battier got. it also helped that lebron didn't totally shit down his leg and was twice as efficient with miami running his LeIso plays than he ever was with cleveland.
