I was at first sick with this draft. Yet, I am now intrigued. The pairs of Irving with Waiters and TT with Zeller has he ability to switch positions for defensive matchups. People are low on Zeller for being small, yet I expect TT to take bigger challenge like Waiters. I wanted MKG for his defense, but oh well, what can we do. Zeller itch a jumper can open the lane for Waiters and Irving.
I liked the trade to 17. Even if Zeller isn't starter, he is nice scorer off the bench. And, we have 2 picks next year, maybe three for C, SF. Following year, get another backup combo guard and we have our young team. If, Zeller is Z, then we did very well and can win with him as center for years to come as they/centers don't break down quickly. So, age isn't issue.
I find it interesting hat Waiters went to Syracuse like McNabb... Both booed at draft, saying GM was insane. I do worry that he only played 24 minutes per game until I saw no one played more than 26 minutes on the team except Joseph. If there was issues with why he was benched this year Grant would know. Yet, conditioning will be issue.
What changed my mind is Byron. I don't trust Grant and stats research as Waiters may appear better than others due to being fresh. But with byron playing with greats in LA, he senses who will succeed. Hope he and Grant are right. Just interesting Byron is higher than grant on these kids. Grant wouldn't say how he graded beal, MKG, and waiters but hinted MKG/Waiters were above beal. Byron said waiters was #2. Then, grant said Zeller was just outside top 10, and Byron said he was top 10.
Lastly, interesting, beacher report has Cleveland as #13 in their post draft power rating (too high - more on potential) but said with FA SF, we could see CLE-MIA first round match up. I just don't see it this year as we have such a young team.
But, with Irving, waiters, 2013 1st pick at SF, TT, 2013 1st pck/Zeller at C with bench of V, Gee, combo guard watch out.
