Maybe the reason he hasn't been playing is because the team knows they're going to deal him and don't want to risk him getting hurt before-hand? I mean, his injury wasn't serious. He banged his knee against someone else's. You don't miss several weeks for that type of injury. You miss a couple of games (if any).
No they probably have been lying about the injury because they want to deal him. They will try to get him in a game or 2 and then dump him. He and TT are basically the same player except TT is younger and more athletic. Get rid of him.

I disagree. I think was happened was that Varejao got legitimately hurt and was set to miss about a week. During that week, Thompson came alive and started playing like a new player. This made it obvious to the Cavs that Varejao was hampering Thompson's development because they basically provide the same things (energy, rebounding, defense, garbage buckets). They then decided that it was time to part ways with Varejao and so kept him benched as a precautionary measure.
That scenario, to me, seems much more realistic. The Cavs under Grant have not really been the type to hide injuries from the fans. When someone gets hurt, they're typically pretty honest with us. I see no reason why that would have changed, and so I think that Varejao is out because he's going to be moved, not because his injury is secretly worse than previously thought.
I'd be very surprised if they traded Andy now, especially for a trade like this. Holding him until the deadline (assuming he doesn't get hurt again) lets contenders figure out where they are, and what they're willing to deal for Andy. There's a reason most major trades happen at the last minute at the deadline. Unless Love is involved - which I'm sure he's not - there's gotta be better deals out there that will emerge than one with Minny.
