Free Agency Rumors

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What can they do though? This allows them to basically add Oden, right? Or am I wrong? (I may be, not trying to challenge you - just curious!)
I don't know what all of the options would be, but thinking the team is perfect as is and can't be improved is clearly silly.

There are limits to what Miami can do. They have the luxury tax MLE, but that's just under half of Miller's payout. Adding someone at that rate put them back into the $2.50 for every $1. So that $3M contract could basically cost $10M total.

They really may hope that at least one guy opts out and leaves next year because I doubt they want the repeat offender tax. The new luxury tax rules make a team like Miami unable to really survive very long.

If the Miami guys wanna keep winning they will need to drop down to around 14m each in 2014-15 on a new extension. I suppose it's possible but not likely.

Saw the note of Hoopsrumors that the Cavaliers are mulling an amnesty claim on Miller.

Good idea?

Seems pointless.

Unless they're looking for another "vet leader" to fill a Luke Walton, practice only player, I just don't get it.

Think the cavs could use a 3-point shooter or two. Miller can hit the 3 from the SF position. Would have liked the cavs to have signed Morrow or Ellington as a SG 3 point shooter.

Still a lot of effective players out there because teams are saving for the more vaunted 2014 FA class.

1. Nikola Pekovic C (watch Glen Taylor overpay for this guy who tells people "it's nothing" when he gets hurt, then is ineffective)
2. Brandon Jennings PG (seems like a douche, has been talking about leaving MIL for 2 yrs now)
3. Gerald Henderson SG (seems high for a non 3pt SG)
4. Mo Williams PG (considering taking less to join contender, among them Heat)
5. Mike Miller SF (barely plays except for playoffs- a modern Robert Horry)
6. Greg Oden C (high risk/high reward)
7. Nate Robinson PG (seems high, seems to always be available in the bargain bin)
8. Gary Neal PG/SG (excellent playoff performance)
9. Beno Udrih PG (finally, some love)
10. Lamar Odom PF/SF
11. DeJuan Blair (undersized PF seems high)
12. BJ Mullens- stretch C (can't believe CHA didn't resign him- stupid)
13. Ivan Johnson PF
14. Timofey Mozgov C
15. Anthony Tolliver combo PF
16. Drew Gooden (druuuuu!)
17. Kenyon Martin PF (drove his value back up last season after no interest year before)
18. Bobby Brown PG (OK...?)
19. Antawn Jamison (great 4th big for a contender- no one will bother game planning for his weird shooting, then BOOM!)
20. Royal Ivey PG (really?)

Others: Marcus Camby (would be in demand if he wasn't behind Tyson Chandler last year) , Leandro Barbosa (lost a step but still one of the quicker guards), Alan Anderson (hit enough 3s to step out from the shadows), Baron Davis (over the hill, late knee injuries), Corey Maggette (CRAZY injury-prone)

I'm hearing Mo Williams is considering taking less to join a contender such as the Spurs or Heat. Nothing imminent, but he's considering it.- Alex Kennedy Ugh. :wtf:

I know this is free agency rumor thread, but The Bullshit Whisperer is saying we're interested in Jimmer Freddette... Seriously, why? I just don't see the fit

Not a FA, but I didn't want to start a new thread just for The Jimmer. Apparently Cavs still have interest.

From The Bullshit Whisperer:

• Sources around the league say Kings guard Jimmer Fredette is still available. Fredette is entering his third pro season. The Hawks, Cavaliers, Wizards and Jazz are said to be among the interested teams.

Jimmer journey safari it is?

I guess he would be the third pg and an extra shooter off the bench, but I would not give up much at all to get him.

I'm surprised Nate RObinson hasn't been picked up. Seemed like he had really put it together as a 6th man in Chicago during the playoffs. Loved his effort on D and ability to score quickly. Still too much of a ball stopper? Cavs don't need him, but someone should grab him.
