Larry Sanders Show anyone?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Wait... treatment program?

What drug was he using? I just thought he smoked pot.

And to be honest, with everything we know about certain star players on our team and their drug tendencies; I don't want to compound the problem by adding Larry Sanders.

We could easily cut him... but jeeze..

No.

People always trying to pretend team cancers will change here. They won't. Andrew Bynum didn't. LeBron James joining the team didn't change Dion Waiters. And Larry Sanders is going to still be Larry Sanders. No reason to bring in a ticking time bomb like that on a team that is just now finding a groove.

Winning cures a lot of issues

Bynum had terrible knees and was on a losing team in Cleveland after being a champion in LA

Dion wasn't really a knucklehead on the court, he belieged himself to b a star and took bad shots

Sanders is a guy who winning could absolutely change. This is our rodman to the Bulls. I'd ask him, "will you come here, block shots and rebound? Do you want to compete for a title?" One complaint and you're gone. Block shots, rebound and thrive off the open looks Lebron, kyrie and love get you."

OK, I guess I'm actually out of the loop -- who are you referring to?

Do we even know that the league would let him play? He's still suspended right?

Super high risk gamble, seems like we are playing well enough that we shouldn't be taking a gamble like that?

I think his suspension just ended....

Not much of a gamble, if the worst thing that happens is that he sits on the bench (or gets kicked off the team)...

Actually, it was only on the couort hat Dion was a knucklehead. He didn't have any off-court issues.

Not sure how much being the 4th big would do for his attitude....

Let's say we sign him... We won't have his rights... And he isn't going to want to play for a vet min next season..

What's the game plan on retaining him if it works out?

Three possibilities:

1.) If the market is really dry, we might get him on a two year deal now (unlikely).

2.) I don't think he will command more than the MLE next season from any team (even if he looks great here, there's a lot of risk for a long term deal). We can give him that.

3.) If he plays well here this year, and we lose him, who cares? We still win overall.

We would be stupid not to entertain it if he gets a buyout. Would definitely solidify our front court.

There's a difference between being an idiot who likes to play and being an idiot who doesn't like to play. I don't think anyone ever questioned Rodman's want to on the court....but many have questioned Sanders'.

There have been whispers around him that he just wants to channel his inner Ricky Williams and go sit in a tent and find his inner chi. He's tried to refute that to a degree but the dialog from his end is murky at best. The myth that is Larry Sanders sounds great. The guy who smokes weed and shows up to practices high as **** does not.

The only way I would consider him is on a non-guaranteed deal, which I doubt he would agree to. Bringing a potentially poisonous presence in to a locker room, after a 14-2 stretch, would be pretty irresponsible. I get the upside involved but on a team that is finally starting to gel, someone like Sanders is REALLY going out on a limb.

I think there will be some lower ceiling, higher floor guys available that will be able to fill the 10-12 minutes we need. I just don't think rolling the dice on Sanders is plan A. It would be down the list for me and more of a last resort if the team started sputtering.

Smoking weed isn't a drug problem dammit.
