ECF: Cavs 4 - Hawks 0

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Haven't read the link yet, but how could anyone think Atlanta has the crowd edge?? Just because they have home court? Because their crowd has been lackluster and our crowd has really been getting it going.
Like a poster said above, maybe they pipe in some fake Falcons game noise and has the edge there.

I just think Blatt is a much better coach than Mike Budenholzer.

Coach Bud can coach his ass off. Anyone that can be on Pop's bench for 16 years and then get 60 wins out of a roster with nothing approaching a real star player can flat out coach.

I expect the Cavs to win in 5-6, but I would trade Blatt for coach Bud yesterday.

i havent seen a reporter favor the hawks. very very few nba fans.

ive seen odds between 65-80% that the cavs advance

fwiw

Budenholzer has been far from COY material in the playoffs. I just think a lot of it was that the Hawks really played a lot of their hands during the regular season. Like in our last game against them when we came back from 17 down and they started trapping in the 4th quarter. LeBron and the rest of us left that game, even in defeat, confident because we were pretty sure the Hawks were pulling out all the cards that night. And when push comes to shove, even the Spurs break down into 1 on 1 basketball. The Hawks are just too much poor-man Spurs to be effective I think against us.

Yeah, I've been dogging Atlanta all year, I've been saying they're not as good as their record, they will come down to earth in the playoffs. Blah, blah, blah.

That said, I don't think we are sweeping them. I originally was going to pick us in 5, but I am saying Cavs in 6.

Atlanta will play different against us, than they have against the Wizards and Nets. They went into those series as the favorite, and played more tense, like a team feeling the pressure of playing as the number 1 seed for the first time.

In this series? They are the underdogs. I think they thrive much better as an underdog team with people over looking them, than as the favorite. They will be motivated to play us. I expect them to play much better.

I don't think it will be a walk over, but as long as guys are healthy, and Kyrie is at least relevant, the Cavs are winning this series.

Atlanta should play much better, and much looser and free than they did in the previous series. If their shooters get hot, they are tough. But they are such a streaking team. Not a very hard team to defend, but they do have shooters you much account for.

I don't think Mozgov will play that much in the series either, he is a mismatch, you almost have to match up small a lot.

I expect Tristan, LeBron/Jones, Shump, Jr, Kyrie/Delly to be the heavily featured lineup in this series.

Coaching: Budenholzer vs. Blatt
Edge: Hawks (nuff said)

After outcoaching Messina I guess it is time to do a number on another (former) Pop Lieutenant.
The amount of disrespect to Blatt is mind blowing .

Completely off topic but it must be depressing to be a fan in some of these cities.

I just went through 3 Atlanta hawks boards- One didn't even have an ECF thread up, one is 6 pages long and the other one had like 11 responses.

Meanwhile we have 25k views on a thread that was just opened a few days ago. Must be weird to refresh your forum once a day and see a dozen posts.

As far as the game goes I expect this to be a pretty depressing series for Mozgov. Do to Matchups id be surprised if he averages more than 18 minutes a game. This wouldn't have been as big of a deal if we still had Love but our bench is going to look incredibly thin.

Lets hope we don't have any more physical breakdowns since we are going to have 7 guys playing a ton of minutes.

Would you say they are classless???

Not really, just plain shit. Opposing fans always take over the Georgia Dome, even when the Falcons are good.

And the Hawks always have empty seats in playoff games.

By the way, its not disrespectful to say coach Bud is better than Blatt. He coached a way less talented team to 60 wins.

I agree with you, but also remember, his team was behind him from the start, Blatt had to prove himself and took some beatings before the guys got together.

I think next year, if we don't lose to many of our key players to trades etc. we can beat that record.

I love Blatt, but I agree. Hawks have the coaching advantage headed into the series. But I'm hoping by the end of the series we have reason to say the opposite.

Overall, I'm a little surprised at how confident most Cavs fans seem to be right now. If we had Love and a healthy Irving, I would be, too. But we don't. I'm assuming this series goes 7, 6 at the absolute least. And I'm not sure who I'd favor. I guess the Cavs because we have by far the best player. But these Hawks worry me a bit.

Even with the bad foot, we've seen flashes of Irving at 70-80% in the playoffs. We'll need that in this series, and the role players need to keep tearing it up too. Even then, this feels like 7 or at least 6.

Atlanta hasnt played their best ball yet but you know they're capable, kinda like the Cavs, just finding ways to get by. When they're shooting well and Teague is slashing, they're a huge problem for anyone. Horford can do all the things Gasol did to hurt the Cavs in Game 1 (PnR/PnP, crash the glass) only better. Extremely well coached and their bench has been excellent.

I'm not taking the Hawks lightly at all...

Hawks were 16-13 with Horford last season and consist of 4 all stars. in their second year together as a Core.

Yes Budenholzer has done an excellent job for his 2nd year with the team but Atlanta is not void of talent.
out of guys who started more than 50 games only 30 out of 150 starters had a 20 or higher per. of those 30 only two teams had 3 guys on that list. Atlanta the the Clippers.
Milsap has consistently performed at this level over the years as has Horford. Teague has steadily improved.season by season. Shroder has grown alot since his rookie year and Carroll benefits greatly from the guys he is surrounded with.

I wouldnt give the Hawks a coaching advantage until one of the coaches outmaneuver the other one in a playoff series.

Just read the first post, 1st of all he says they have the edge at point guard, and we get a slight edge with JR/Shump vs Korver/Bazemore.

Oh they also have the big man edge, and the coach edge, and the crowd edge... Haha

I'm a Braves fan and they rarely show up to games when they've easily been the most consistent franchise in the city over the last 25 years. Back in the 1996 World Series fans actually left a game where the Braves had a 6-1 lead (which they blew) and if I'm not mistaken right now the Hawks have the second longest streak of consecutively making the playoffs right now only behind the Spurs.

By no means am I saying the fans at the Q are the best in the league but Atlanta? C'mon son.
