Week 12 (11/30): Ravens (3-7) @ Browns (2-8) [8:30 PM EST, ESPN]

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Pettine let 20 seconds run off the clock with 2 timeouts left while Austin Davis flailed around not knowing what to do. If he had called one of those timeouts, he could've run a play or two to make it a FG Coons didn't have to punch in there. Instead, he left it on the board.

He mangled the clock situation. No other way to slice it.

I'm not saying it was perfectly managed but he didn't mangle anything. He thought they were in FG range and that's how he managed the time. Davis sliding and not going out of bounds was incredibly stupid, but I guess that's Pettine's fault too.

Since when does an NFL kicker have to "punch" a 50 yard FG? Jesus.

Lol 51 yards is out of range now?

Give this narrative a rest, you guys are trying way to hard to push it forward at this point.

No, that is not in Coons' range from what I understand.

Considering we have passed up similar FG attempts this year, and the fact that Coons long is 44 (the longest he has attemped):

Yes

To classify that as "well out" of Coons is range is ridiculous.

There's really no other way to classify it.

We get it, you're all mad. No need to take it down an even dumber route than we already have to endure.

Ok, so it's just "out of his range" then.

Like what the fuck? I know it's the Internet where semantics rule, but please.

Two things:

(1) Stop using the words "we" and "us" when you describe the Browns. I'm telling you, it is so freeing. You will instantly feel better.

(2) I can't fathom being at that game. Why do that to yourself? Moreso, I can't fathom not being extremely happy with the result even if you were there live. I'm proud to see that the board is mostly in agreement on that.

The only thing dumb I've seen so far is you taking issue with a kick being "well out of range" instead of just "out of range."

I'm one of the majority here who wanted them to lose. I'm still going to criticize the team where I see fit.

I was there. Stayed the entire game and cheered for the Browns, despite any pro tank feelings. I have to be at work at 7.

No one can ever question my fan hood. Ever.

No no no, that clock management was yet another example of Pettine's inability to coach a football team. The guy sucks at managing the clock at the end of the game. I'm very glad it happened but that was extremely poor coaching to just let 30 seconds rip off for no goddamn reason. It isn't the first time, or the second, or the third, that he's fucked up in similar fashion just this season alone.

There's no defending it, period. He let 30 seconds go off the clock before we were even in FG range for no reason.

We ran out of time with a timeout in our pocket. How are people still defending this madness?

Pettine may look and sound like a coach, but that's where it ends. He has made bad decision after bad decision all year.

Yeah, I really don't understand why anyone is defending this.

Pretty sure I heard Gruden and Tirico absolutely befuddled at that exact moment as well.

No, it's not out of any NFL kickers range to attempt a 51 yard field goal.

It's not out of most college kickers range, either.
