Dwight Howard Tracker

I think if you're making an argument that he doesn't want shots, you should expound

Amazing turn for this thread, but count me in if there was a way to turn the TPE, Tristan, AV, and Shump into Dwight Howard.

Sadly, I doubt that is the case. :chuckle:

I don't think it's the fact he's not getting shots. It more so because of why he isn't getting shots. They don't give him the ball when he's in good position. I'm talking about he's got his man pinned damn near out of bounds under the rim and they're just swinging the rock around the 3 point line. It has more to do with them having no offense at all and James Harden doing his thing.

He has a bigger problem with how he is getting his shots.

I think you're kidding, but, there is no way LeBron would want to play with Dwight Howard. If Howard doesn't like playing with Harden, he certainly won't like playing with LeBron, Irving and Love.

I am kidding as the conversation is completely academic, but yes, I know LeBron really dislikes Dwight Howard..

I don't agree with this. I think the whole Lebron wouldn't play for player x is being taken to seriously. I know chemistry is very important but Lebron understands what it's going to take to win this thing. Also remember when Josh Smith got traded to the Rockets and everyone thought that with Smith, Dwight, and Harden they would be a sideshow in the playoffs. Well a motivated Josh Smith was killing it in the playoffs last season. He accepted his bench role there and played great for them.

I just find it funny how people think that Dwight Howard is going to come here an not fall in line. All these guys know what time it is. Kyrie, Love and Dwight do not have titles. Dwight Howard is 30. He doesn't have time for 1st and 2nd round playoff exits anymore. These guys know it's time to put it together now and win.

Howard is notorious for not giving a shit... that's the problem. He's content to make money. A lot of this discontent could be because he fears what his next contract might bring. Many doubt his competitive nature, and he might be the kind of guy where basketball is more or less a means to an end rather than being very meaningful at all.

Dude Dwight Howard when he was healthy in Orlando led them to the finals. He was the best defensive player in the league for a stretch of 5 years. I think people dislike him because he's not what they want him to be. He's not Shaq, Tim Duncan, or KG. He's Dwight Howard. He's been one of the best players since he came in the league. But since he's not a dominant low post scorer with an arsenal of moves somehow he's not a good enough player.

All his career people have been trying to make him and Alpha dog. Dwight is best suited as a Scottie Pippen not a Michael Jordan. The fact that he's a more of a Pippen than a Jordan irks people but so what. Every team doesn't need a Jordan, Kobe, or Lebron to win a title. You could win a title with Dwight Howard with the right players around him. Lebron, Love, Kyrie, Delly...

But you gotta tell all this to Dwight. I doubt he'd take well it. I think he really feels he can lead a team, as he did in Orlando, to the Finals. I don't think he'd agree that he is a complementary piece; let alone agree to be a 4th banana behind LeBron, Kyrie, and Kevin Love.

I don't think you have to explain this to 30yo Dwight. At this point he's a HOF in my opinion. But he needs to win rings to at least be considered one of the greatest. You really don't think he would be all in with this roster and Lebron?

we arent usinhg kevin love the right way, I highyl highly doubt we give a limited offensive player a bunch of shots. i aknowledge that youre saying 'why' hes not getting shots.. but maybe he sees things the same way here, and maybe we erealistically dont give him what he deserves, and maybe he genuinely doesnt care about why, and does care that he gets x shots a game.

regarding the character issues on the rockets..

that is a team with supreme talent and they're playing under 500. have you seen the clip floating around of 4 different rockts refuising to play defesnse on the same possession?

maybe their character issues flare up publically, or maybe they dont put forth the effort (some streaky, streaky play in the playoffs) and keep it quiet. But that team is not performng like it should.

a recruiter's job is to look at a resume. they pick up on patterns.. if someone has left several companies in a short amount of time, they do not bother sgetting into details of the dynamics that lead to the pattern. it is simply too costly to risk putting in someone that cant seem to make it work wherever they go.

a championship is pretty big.

i like dwight as aplayer. when the idea of him coming here was presented, it was like fast food coming up in a block and I have to remind myself that it makes me fat and to stay away.

Honestly man, I don't think he'd buy in. He'd shirk his responsibilities and complain. That'd be my guess. He wouldn't be keen on us ever playing small ball with Kevin or James at the 5, and beyond that I don't know if he'd really be happy with our offense running through 2 ball-dominant players and then Kevin Love, before it ever found it's way to him.

What do you consider small ball? Dwight Howard is 6'9, Kev is 6'9, Lebron is 6'8. Dwight can guard 5's and 4's. Now if your idea of small ball is what the Warriors play then they're the only team (besides a healthy Cavs team and maybe the Spurs) who can get away with playing small ball because of their personnel. Look around the league and tell me if a frontline of Lebron, Love and Dwight can't matchup with any lineup small ball or not. I think it can.

It really comes down to what you think small ball is.

'small ball' is commonly mistaken for having short players.

logically, being shorter than the other team does not provide any benefit.

its their shooting and quickness that takes consideration over height, and is to be expected when subbing a 6'10 guy for a 7'1 guy.

dwight may be shorter than 7'1, but that doesnt make him conducive to a small ball lineup.

otoh, having a 7'4 wingspan does. even if small ball leaves someone wide open, theres a 50% change he'll miss his three.. an old school center would clean up, big time. and would be very difficult to defend if that old school center can back a smaller defender down.
