2015 Buckeyes Football

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Does anyone know how many players we can take this year? Is there a chance we dont fully load up and save spots for next year? I am sure with this many underclassman going we could take a 25 man class if we could get the right players.
The limit per year is 25, but early enrolees count towards the previous class. There are still 3 spots from the previous year, so OSU could sign 28 players this year.

By the beginning of next season, they must be at 85 players. Right now, they have 12 scholarship seniors plus 9 declared underclassmen leaving, so they only have room for 21 signees. There are already rumors of players transferring, so that 21 may go up.

So the absolute max is 28, but for every one over 21, some other player somehow has to leave the program.

Good news for the offense, we might get Corey Smith back next year. He looked like he had finally gotten it together before suffering another injury last season.

249 days until the showdown in Norman, Oklahoma. We are about to usher in a new era of Ohio State Football folks. Gone are the warm up games against the likes of Kent St, Akron, and Hawaii. The schedule nitpickers will have to hold their collective breaths for the next 6 years as we have scheduled legitimate powerhouse football teams. Let's just hope those programs can stay relevant.

One thing worth noting...everyone tries to speculate on how long Meyer will remain coach here with most people assuming 10 years would be his max. As we are about to embark on his 5th season here, you would have to think our upcoming schedules have him licking his chops. There is a reason he was on the broadcast last night and it's not because he is a Bama or Clemson fan. Only time will tell how long he can remain committed to his craft but personally, i am very excited about our upcoming season. Did last season sting? Sure but Meyer is at his best when he is coaching the underdog. With a team full of unknowns, this will be his greatest coaching challenge at OSU since he took over.

Tom Herman is the next coach at Ohio State.

Just don't see how the timing on Herman will work out. If Charlie Strong doesn't work out at Texas, Herman seems like a safe bet to land that gig. Can't imagine he'd ever leave Texas for OSU after becoming entrenched at UT.

Because Texas' athletic department is a complete and utter disaster and it's not nearly the job it used to be?

Yeah, by the time Urban is done Herman will likely have already settled in at a powerhouse program. Gonna make it tough to bring him back.

Strong better turn it around this year or he will surely be let go. Herman at Texas just makes too much damn sense and i wholeheartedly agree, he would bring them back but i am not sure he would leave next year. In the AAC, he faces little competition and has made Houston relevant. They just gave him a fat bonus and the future looks bright next year and beyond with Allen transferring.

Would an undefeated Houston had made the playoffs this year?

No I don't think so. Would have made interesting conversation moving into this year though.

Based on the offer Texas reportedly had made Saban, i am sure they would throw the boat at Herman.

I was responding more to the playoff question than about him going to Texas. I definitely see Herman leaving soon for a bigger program. He has to be the first name thought of for any potential big job openings.

Next year? I believe it can easily happen.

1. First roadblock is very 1st game with Oklahoma coming into town. They beat OKLA? Great damn start.

2. Run through your early non-conference schedule.

3. Run through your AAC schedule. Still not a crazy easy task. They play AT Cinci, Navy & Memphis.

4. Beat Louisville in one of your last games. Should be a Top 25 team to at least start the season. They will be a tough team next year.

Now, as I stated easily happen. That means if they go undefeated as you stated this past year, they will easily make the playoffs in 2016. Do I think that will happen? No. Too many tough games.

Now back to Buckeyes. I am worried about next year. I hope we can go undefeated or only take one loss (hopefully it would be against Oklahoma so it is early in the year and not to a B1G school). We still have great young talent on the team & coming in. But gee whiz, all of these people we lost are going to hurt. I will be happy as hell with a B1G title or at least it coming down to the UM game. 2017 will be our year again.
