Tyronn Lue has been fired

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So happy for this dude - one thing you have to give him is he can relate to his stars. He was really put into an unfair situation this year if you think about it and he was able to keep this team (which has huge egos) together and focused, and keeping them believing even down 1-3 is pretty damn impressive.

He will only get better with experience.

No doubt in the game Lue made some strange decisions with lineups but the man had a plan and he stuck to his guns. The fact that the warriors never adjusted in the last 3 games is a testimony to how amazing this team was, they knew if they doubled lebron or kyrie then we would kill them with the rest of the team

Fast break points over the final three games: 65-27 in the Cavs' favor. That's incredible against GSW, especially since the Cavs were also able to get offensive rebounds which lends itself to getting beat on the break.

Credit to Lue for making enough adjustments to get us over the hump: forcing Curry to switch onto LBJ/Kyrie, the multiple screen sets involving JR and TT, out of bounds sets, and most of all his calm demeanor on the sidelines.

Congratulations to Lue who out coached Kerr this series.

Also incredible that in the final game of the year, the Cavs beat the Warriors in the exact way they virtually never get beaten (as you have documented in detail). By coming from behind, by going toe to toe, by trading the lead many times, and by winning with a tie-breaking basket down the stretch. It was stunning.

We have our Phil Jackson.

Bravo, sir. Prepare to get paid! The fucking MAN!

Congrats to lue as he is now part of history and has succeeded. His strategy of riding his starters in the playoffs has paid dividends. this team got great rest during the eastern conference playoffs and their fitness levels were great. Like all championships you need a little luck and I think the nba in suspending Green and Bogut getting injured helped just like Kyrie and Love getting hurt last year helped them. But his belief in his method along with gaining momentum in game 5 accerlerated the final victory. Winning can be pyschological so much. Well done on his coaching performance . My minor complaint is that his press conferences are extremely dull and he lacks personality but its all about winning. winner

Ty Lue played Kevin Love big minutes in Game 7 of the NBA Finals. He didn't bench him. He played him in the fourth quarter of the most important game in Cavs history. He played him on the very last possession of the most important possession in either of their careers or in the history of the franchise.

Kevin Love came up big, and proved himself. Lue gave him that opportunity.

I totally understand where he's coming from... Appreciation is an understatement.

People criticized Lue...but let’s be frank, people criticize EVERY coach on every team, because no coach makes the right decisions or pushes the right buttons 100% of the time. It’s impossible.

But in only half a season as head coach, he did a damn good job, pushing the right buttons more often than not. A damn good one. He prepared this team very very well in terms of gameplans, doubled down in going small and playing fast, and held his ground when people were skeptical.

He just beat a Warriors team where no team had ever beat them more than once on their home floor. He just beat a team that had never lost three consecutive games in the Kerr era.

Lue bet on himself and coached himself into a nice raise this summer. Well deserved.

I actually don' think he is great at in game adjustments other than he does stick with what is working, but damn I think his between game adjustments are amazing.

He threw new wrinkles at the Warriors every game and now those wrinkles are appearing around Kerr's crying eyes.

Really Kerr and the rest of the Warriors thought they were good enough to win the series at the beginning and they were, but they did not improve over the course of the series, and even in 1 and 2 the Cavs defended Curry and Klay well. The Cavs did get better over the course of the series, and the D that was my biggest fear finally got to that championship level and won it for us.

Yes, he has that relational ability, he's calm in the storm (something I think even Lebron needs), and for a rookie he's done a very good job. Very happy for the guy-- a rookie coach coming in under these pressure-packed circumstances and getting a ring... wow. I think Kerr is one of the elite coaches in the league for much of the same reasons, plus he knows how to push buttons, so the fact that Lue was able to match up to him was an impressive thing.
