Tyronn Lue has been fired

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think a large majority of us owe a big tip of the cap to Ty. I was one of the skeptics this season and really didn't come around till the finals lol. You could say I was one of the last holdouts.

But I'm going to go back to July 2014, I remember a ton of us were just shaking our heads when this guy was rumored to be the frontrunner, and was probably David Griffin's choice at the time.

I guess that's why he's GM, and the rest of us chime in online lol.

Lue was just on Mike & Mike

  • Was crying, in part, because his grandfather died this year, and his mother and grandmother were diagnosed with Cancer.
  • He's excited because his mom gets to see the parade.
  • Thought, after game 2, Kyrie and LeBron did a superb job getting favorable matchups and attacking.
  • Told LeBron after game 2 to take shots when the ball is moving. If the guy who is guarding him goes under a screen, and Bron is open, then LBJ should take it. He thought this made a huge difference in how Warriors guarded LeBron.
  • Never was concerned about doubters regarding his team's pace. He said that he knew, from the start, that this team running was the way they could win. LeBron and Kyrie are unstoppable in transition, JR and KLove get open shots in transition, etc.
  • Love will be here next season. No question. He played very good defense in the finals, rebounded unbelievably, and adopted a new role with grace.

I thought the last part was interesting and I'm happy to hear it.

So glad this guy is our coach...

So happy for this dude - one thing you have to give him is he can relate to his stars. He was really put into an unfair situation this year if you think about it and he was able to keep this team (which has huge egos) together and focused, and keeping them believing even down 1-3 is pretty damn impressive.

He will only get better with experience.

I want to read "The Jordan Rules" again--Phil Jackson did the same with the '90s Bulls...

I agree. I got pissed a couple times with some of his rotations to start 4th quarters, and with how he would let runs go on too long without calling timeouts. But I think he obviously learned a lot, had some GREAT strategies that payed huge dividends, and more than anything, got this VERY talented team to buy into his game plans.

I think Lue and LeBron have a chance, if Gilbert/Griff are patient enough to let it play out, to become a historically great coaching duo.

Bumping this thread because we all hated his "plan" until now. Come give this guy some fucking credit. Lue to me with his get fit or get out was the best idea he had. He out coached Kerr to... Thank you Lue you are as big of a piece as any player and I hope others see this.

Hey now, not everyone hated his plan, and there was a few people who stuck up for Lue.

I think Lue did a better job in the playoffs..he did manage to get his stars some rest..what I would question was some of his matchup rotation..I thought instead of him reacting , he should set the tone as he did late in the finals series..

I don't think Lue gets enough credit even now for his insistence that we were the better team when we played fast. Everyone was ridiculing him and telling him that we were better off playing that slow, grind it out game, but we dominated playing fast. We outscored them like crazy in transition and we won the 3 fastest paced games in the series.

Now moving forward I'd like to add a few guys to round out the bench to keep our stars fresher coming down the stretch particularly playing at a higher pace, but overall his plan absolutely worked with what he was given.

Man.. agreed..

Everyone said we had to slow the game down... Lue said fuck that, we got this; run it down their throats.
