Living in Phoenix, hard to hear anyone talk about good mexican food, outside someone from San Antonio or San Diego.

Go choke on an eggThankfully California is drifting off
Go choke on an egg
OI think the proper response was to tell him to choke on a burrito.
You live in a HUGE city, the only "authentic" burrito I am getting is from the Taco Bell/Pizza Hunt by the movie theater.
Have you tried food by the border?@David.
@Randolphkeys is right. Mission district Mexican is outstanding. Every time I visit my brother in SF, I have to go... grab a Dave_K special (1 lb burrito), some fresh guac, and a Tecate.
MUY CACA PARA MI!

Closest I've been in the US would be Dallas. We had our honeymoon near Playa Del Carmen and I had some authentic Mexican food there. Gotta say... the Mission food was right there with it.
S.D. might be closer to the boarder, but that doesn't have much to do with the makeup of the city.
According to the 2014 census, San Francisco has a much higher percentage of Latinos than San Diego. S.D. is 28% Latino, S.F. is 39% Latino with a larger population. Sorry to geek out with all these facts, but there is this stereotype of San Francisco that it's mainly white techies, but as a public school teacher I know that isn't the whole truth. I hope S.F. stays diverse, though... so much gentrification.
Okay, back to food. Why no love for Hardees/Carl's Jr? I don't eat much 5 Guys, but I tend to look out for Carl's when I'm on the freeway for quality fast food.
There may be more Mexicans, but I'd tend to believe they're not walking over the border every day to work in their shops.
Im trying not to sound like a douche here, but have a Stand on practic every block that have trumped anything I've tried in sf
For as much shit as taco Bell is getting,n it's a favorite.
Sf is not Mexican food friendly
