Browns 2016 Off Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
New head coach, new QB, and new system. Three games into preseason isn't going to tell you very much about this team.

I think we can gather the Browns are going to be bad, but how bad is the question.

My only legit takeaway thus far is that the offensive line looks like an issue. I don't care if you have Tom Brady at quarterback paired with Jerry Rice, and Randy Moss at receiver.

If our line is going to protect that badly, then yeah, we probably are in for a long season.

But like all preseasons games. I'll wait for this shit to get real.

Which is why I'm all for trading Thomas for a high draft pick because our OLine isn't good anymore and wasn't since that Mack injury. Our line was boss back then. It's rebuilding time anyways. Hopefully there's a 5 year plan in place. I'm sick of coaching changes. I like Hue, players like Hue, the league respects Hue.

I'm also curious about this running game, it'll help everything if we can run.

You're also not worried about this LB corp? It might be one of the worst. It's definitely unproven to the max. They will be tested.

Last year, we beat Tampa 31-7 in the "dress rehearsal game" and ended up going 3-13..

I mean, if we're looking at silver linings, there were some... The Browns clearly now know that they can have a great week of practice and come out looking like shit. It sucks, but at least the team isn't resting on any laurels.

I don't get this. The line is bad, but you want to trade maybe the best left tackle in football? If you can get value, and feel his head just isn't here anymore. Not saying you don't. But Thomas can still be pretty productive going forward. I don't know if it's a good idea to make a weakness, even more of a one trading him away.

He's shown no signs of dropping off. It's really hard getting very good, to great left tackles. Trade him, the wheels really come off on this line. At this point I'm keeping him, unless someone blows us away with an offer. Or he tells the Browns he wants out.

Rebuilding time can be two years in football. But, it's probably going to be worse before it gets better. It never helps when you strike out on almost all your draft picks. The previous regime, again, set us back. But Hue can be off and running fast if he has good drafts and good player development.

The running game is going to be terrible. No surprises there.

There's a lot of parts to this team that's going to be bad and inconsistent this season.

I don't take much away from preseason. But my gut feeling right away was Mike Pettine was going to not be a good head coach. I feel the opposite with Hue though.

I think we are going to be bad, and things will get real ugly. Fans will be calling for his head. But I really think this guy will eventually turn this program around. I've never really felt that way with any Browns head coach, outside Chud. But they never gave Chud a chance. Chud saw how absolutely stupid our front office was too. Told them off, and got shit canned for it.

You guys actually believe in the Browns? The BROWNS???

Save it. I'd be shocked if we won 7 games. Complete shock. And obviously 2-14 probably won't happen.
I've got 4-12 on the assumption that Gordon plays his 12 games.

The defense is going to be so bad it will be hard to win more than that.

Tyrone Holmes is a guy I was pretty big on as a later round sleeper.

Did major damage at Montana, but has a lot of room for growth and development.

This has been settled.

So... should I be proud of the Buckeyes or embarrassed by the Browns?
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Forget the College Football Playoff. A majority of respondents to a recent poll in the Buckeye State believe Ohio State could jump a level and beat an NFL team.

According to the results released this week by Public Policy Polling, 62 percent of those polled said the No. 2 Buckeyes would beat the struggling Cleveland Browns, while only 23 percent picked the professionals in a hypothetical meeting.

I would guess a good portion of those voting are doing it in a mocking way because the Browns have been such an embarrassment.

Most sports fans remember the old commercial of "The Miami Hurricanes...could beat the Cincinnati Bengals" and the conversation that started. No pro team would ever be beat by an amateur team like that.
