2016 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't see how Penn State gets in. If they thought Washington was better last week, how can they possibly declare they aren't better now?

Clemson...I don't know. Plus, you have to jump Penn State over Michigan, who beat them by 40. Nah, I think it's pretty much set in stone. No drama at all.

I mean, like Kirk Herbie said. Committee will look at Washington's non-conference schedule and they played literally nobody.

I think Ohio State stays at number two. Penn State gets in at No.4.

To play the other side of this argument, can you justify PSU jumping the same team that beat them by 39?

I just don't know how you put them in. They're clearly not one of the best 4 teams IMO.

Washington is going to go. They blasted the #8 team in the CFP rankings and are 12-1. I just don't see them being bumped out.

Ultimately, that ugly loss against Michigan will keep PSU out IMO.

But they've looked at it the whole year. They looked at it last week when they chose to rank Washington ahead of Penn State.....so that doesn't make any sense at all.

Committee looks at EVERYTHING.
They'll look at this stat: Washington's non-conference schedule was ranked 127 out of 128.

Dude, I understand. And it was ranked 127 out of 128 LAST WEEK when they ranked them ahead of Penn State. Ok? So they've taken note of the non-conference and ranked Washington ahead of Penn State regardless. Now, the only new information that we've gathered this week is what happened in the championship games. And unless the committee thought there was a huge, huge, huge gap between Wisconsin and Colorado, there's just no way they drop Washington behind Penn State. If they wanted to punish them for their non-conference, they would have already done so.

Assuming Washington stays in, I can't help but wonder how it will impact the committee's view on OOC scheduling going forward. The only reason there's even any perceived drama surrounding the 4 seed right now is due in no small part to their weak OOC schedule.

For the record, I think Michigan would be a much more competitive 4 seed than Washington.

Also, whether right or wrong, I definitely feel like the calls to expand the playoff field from four to six or even eight teams will intensify once the committee announces their picks tomorrow.

EDIT: Please note that I said perceived drama. I think the playoff field stays the same, other than the possibility of teams being shuffled around in order.

@Rich we will just have to agree/disagree man. I just don't know if Washington gets in. Penn State is the wild card. If the committee wants to, they can just move Michigan up to No.4.

With you. Think they punished them in the 1st rankings having A&M ahead of them, but since then things have just played out.

Shit's chalk right now...only thing to discuss now is if OSU flips with Clemson IMO, which has no bearing what so ever.

You just can't lose by 40 and get in. I'll go back and look at the previous 12 playoff teams, but I doubt any of them had a loss that was even close to that bad.

Quick, someone pull up their stats when wearing certain uniforms!

What did Clemson do to move up?

After watching all these teams this weekend, I would honestly drop Clemson to 4.

Their defense looks absolutely awful. They are a candidate to get steamrolled in the semi.

Yea, I think it more likely WAshington moves UP, not down.

That doesn't mean I agree with it, but the committee's own rankings had them 4. They then then clobbered the team the committee had ranked 8. They aren't dropping. It would be completely illogical for someone to think WAshington was the 4th best team before this weekend, and now think they aren't.

No idea...committee is weird...can see them flipping them just because 1 team was idle.

No chance in hell OSU falls to 4, so I can see a flip-flop happening, if the conference championship bumps them equal with us in their eyes.

And it shouldn't matter to anyone, it would just change uniforms worn and sideline/fan placement in the stadium.
