Trade Rumor(s)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't think the Rondo monitoring is for us necessarily, moreso how Griff may be able to jump in and snag a piece from helping facilitate a Rondo transaction
That would make sense knowing Griff. But the major question is, what team would actually want to trade for Rondo? I honestly think only a team like the Spurs or us has a chance to straighten him out. But I doubt either of us mess with him. He has soon played himself out of the league.

There is usually always that one desperate crap team, but enough to trade for him? That will be interesting.

We already did that and wound up with Humpty Dunleavy. Not sure I want to try it again.

I'd like to know as well...

@gourimoko

Bogut is a very outspoken guy, does his own thing, and IMHO, doesn't really fit into the kind of hierarchical structure we have here. Bogut has commented as to why he loved GSW so much after Jackson left and almost all of that leads me to believe he wouldn't want to play here nor would we want him here.

Moreover, on a personal level, given what I've heard/read about Bogut and how players and certain people around the league feel about him, I highly doubt LeBron would be jumping for joy to have him as our starting center. But maybe James knows something I don't?

He's a solid center; but, I just don't think he would "FIT IN" here, with this group of guys particularly, to borrow a phrase. So, given we wouldn't be offering him a long-term deal in the offseason, I highly doubt Bogut ends up a Cav to displace Thompson for a few months and a playoff run..

Interesting points. I'm not sure it'd be that difficult to incorporate him. But as you say, given that he certainly won't get a large/long term deal from us, he may want to take a more important role with another team to help himself get a larger deal this Summer.

The whole advantage to signing with us is because he'd get the most exposure out of anywhere else. Who cares if we can give him a big-money long term deal, the point is that somebody would give it to him after (hopefully) showing out in a championship run.

If I was the Cavs I'd present it as a mutually beneficial relationship...get both of us another ring and the potential for a big summer contract when the cap raises even higher. The added sweetener is payback against GSW for cutting him. I'd also use Mozgov's contract with the Lakers as my first bullet point.

If we can get something like Bogut, Chalmers and maybe Jared Dudley, I say we repeat. That pushes McRae and likely Felder out of the lineup (and we can send them to Canton where they can get playing time and build a ton of confidence). Tristan going to the bench and us having a solid big man rotation with a true center would be amazing. I mean, we really don't have a true center. Tristan is a beast on the boards and I think having his best defensive season yet on the low post, but he's still a huge liability on the offensive end and gets bullied from time to time by much larger centers. Dudley would also be the perfect 3 and D guy to run behind or along side LeBron.

Kyrie/Chalmers/Felder
JR/Shump/Liggins/McRae
LeBron/Dudley/RJ/Dunleavy
Love/Tristan
Bogut/Frye

That's 100% a championship lineup. Imagine a defensive lineup like this:

Kyrie
JR
Dudley
LeBron
Bogut

And there are so many lineups where you can have shot creators, ISO players, ect, spot ups, ect. It would be the deepest roster LeBron ever played on and honestly give us the depth we need to make a run. I really hope Griffin is planning something because so far it's crickets and we're running out of bodies.

Also, for guys who think Bogut wants to get a more significant role... He has the perfect opportunity to. He's on a bottom of the barrel team and is still not starting... If he wanted to start I'm sure he could. Shit, Mozgov played a total of 25 minutes in the finals last season... How much is he getting paid again? Bogut has the reputation and is going to get paid next season regardless. If he wants to shine, it's all on him to play well in the minutes he gets. Only a dumb coach would take him out of the game if he was playing out of his mind. In fact, he risks losing more playing on a bad team where he gets minutes, if he can't look useful in those minutes...

Love the idea. But I don't think we could get Dudley without moving Dunleavy. Our TPE isn't big enough to absorb him. But that is not a problem. Dunleavy isn't providing anything and will probably get traded anyway imo.

As far as Bogut, it sounds good, but combine the fact if we even want him, with the question if Bogut would even want to come here if we did.... it might be a long shot.

Buyout season is sure fun though. Never know who might become available.

Can somebody tell me why I'm talking myself into Rondo?

It's not that Bogut would turn down a deal from the Cavs based around money; it's that the Cavs/LeBron would not be overly confident in trying to integrate a piece like Bogut in the limited time we have post-deadline, knowing that he will not be back the following season. Where does the buy-in come from on Bogut's end?

If I was the Cavs I'd present it as a mutually beneficial relationship...get both of us another ring and the potential for a big summer contract when the cap raises even higher. Right of course, but again, the point here is that I don't think it's a fit with the personnel and the roster; I also do not think the vets would particularly care for Andrew Bogut.

I could be wrong, but everyone we've signed up to this point has been someone James knew personally or lobbied to get onto the team... I don't see James saying "let's go get Bogut," unless he thinks Bogut will work here and he's had some kind of conversation with him. Given that I don't think either of those things are true, then I don't think Bogut will be coming to the Cavs any time soon.

Can I ask you, what is Rondo doing while we're playing Golden State?

Why are we acting like Rondo would play a big role in the playoffs in the first place...

Just bring him in to run your bench in the regular season, limit LBJs minutes as much as possible, give him spot minutes in the playoffs if we need him/blow people out, and then enjoy our typical 8 man rotation deeper in the playoffs.

Yet to see anyone advocate for him playing a major role, especially in the playoffs.

But, would they?

Bogut would be great but his ROLE would not be that great here. Of course, Mozgov's wasn't either in 2016 but he got his contract based on what he did in 2015. Bogut would not have the role Mozgov did in 2015.

The 10-15 minutes per game in the playoffs he'd give us would be important minutes, just as they obviously were for Golden State...but I'm not sure that showing is going to get him some big deal. If he were to get a big deal it'd be about what he's done previously in a larger role, just like it was with Mozgov.

My point is, I don't see him increasing his value by coming here. Everyone already knows what he can do in a limited role. He can come here, possibly win and stick it to Golden State, and collect whatever he can get in the Summer...or he can sign with another team to try to increase his value. If he even can.

Can I ask you, what is Rondo doing while we're playing Golden State?

He's running the 2nd unit and/or guarding Curry/Livingston, much like Delly.

Let me ask you..... Whose departure has hurt us more this year, Delly or Moz? Now you know why @Los216 is talking himself into the idea...
