Game #42 -|- Cavaliers vs. Spurs -|- Jan. 21st, 2017 @ 8:30 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We had so so so many chances to win. We just kept finding a way to blow it. Well, I thought getting absolutely destroyed by GSW would be a good wake up call but apparently not. Hopefully this game accomplishes moving us toward waking up.

Also, how did Love airball that? Why did Korver play no clutch minutes? And overall, wtf were we doing? Frustrating game.
I don’t think “wake up calls” have anything to do with it. “Wake up calls” don’t fix flawed defensive schemes, an incomplete roster, perplexing rotations, Kevin Love being rusty/injured and JR out until March probably.

For those wanting Korver taking that shot instead of Love: do you actually think the Spurs let Korver get a wide open shot like that? I mean, I know Love is a threat from deep, but when Korver is on the floor, I think they're more likely to double team him and leave someone else open than allow him to get open like that.

No, not worried at all.

We literally had these exact same arguments last year.

And guess what? LBJ goes into playoffs mode and out defense goes to next level. Our only worry is getting into the finals healthy.

you're not worried at all? we had these same arguments last year, but the variables have changed this year; pretty significantly. the margin of error in the finals were razor thin, and it took at least 3 deus ex machina type events for the cavs to pull it out.

more shooters make it tougher but cant ask for a better shot than Love got

How can you trust Love again and again?! This player is just a straight garbage and it is crazy how we won against GSW despite garbage Love. When it matters KLove will be garbage again and again! Are you asking why we don't play good defense ?! We simply have 2 players that don't know to defend, Kyrie and Love!
Thank you D.Green for that game 5.

Yeah that's clearly the best approach to trying to win a title, just hoping Lebron is able to play BOAT level on both offense and defense to beat a GOAT talent team. It worked last year (against a less talented version), no reason it shouldn't work for many more.

Nope, not worried at all. If we get to the finals healthy, we are the favorites.

Do we have a lot of work to do between now and then? Yes. Of course.

But I have ZERO doubts in LBJ and Kyrie. We will repeat if healthy.

They'd have to double team Kyrie and Korver then. Leaving 2 guys open lol

If Leonard was guarded by LeBron the whole game and LeBron was guarded by RJ and Shump for a large portion of the game (hypothetically speaking - say Ginobili if you want to actually use a Spur as example) Leonard would have not shot so much and LeBron would have shot more.

When Leonard is on LeBron, Kyrie is our best offensive option. And Love had freaking David Lee on him, he should be able to destroy him...

When Leonard is guarding you, I don't think there's anyone in the game that should be shooting at high volume. Picking your spots and being efficient against Leonard when we have obvious advantages in other areas makes more sense.
Then you don't understand how LeBron can succeed against Leonard.

When LeBron plays the "efficiency game" he tends to lose to Leonard and the Spurs. Thats how the defense is designed against LeBron. They'd leave the opening for him to score more betting that he'd pass the ball off instead. 4 or 5 of those turnovers could have been prevented if LeBron just shot the damn ball.

We deserved the lose, I just hope, that one day, a lose will wake the team up

We gave up some of our remaining precious few assets for Korver... and then don't put him in when needing a 3 to tie. It defies all logic. A lot of this intense frustration falls right on Lue. It's terrible coaching.
Bring back Blatt...

lol so- are you suggesting we just not put a premier three point shooter on the floor in that situation because... they might cover him? We should just put our worst five shooters on the floor then to really throw them off.

Then why are you still here commenting if you don't think the Cavs can win? Go away then.

Man, I like Kevin Love. I'm not sure he's a good enough third wheel to beat this version of Golden State. Sigh. Kevin Durant man....
