Conspiracy Theories / Wild Predictions

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Trusting unnamed sources died when Trump was sworn in.

Unless you want to believe anything Donald Trump says. "People are saying..."

Edit: Honestly, this comment sounds like something from a parody account. Complete lack of awareness.

looks like some of that shit was undeclared.

The removal of weapons from Syria ended when Trump was sworn in.

No, the Obama Administration -- wrongly -- claimed they were all gone. Guess they got that wrong....

So we'll have to see if Trump really does anything about it, or not. He's not responsible for this attack, but he's responsible for what he does in response.

What does Assad have to lose with this move.

He knows Trump is weak, a fool who is controlled by Russia. There's no way Trump even understands this conflict or the diplomacy involved.

Who knows, maybe Russia allows them to remove Assad to give trump the political win.

Russia is not going to allow anyone to remove Assad. Their intervention has cost them a lot of money they don't have and they have sunk a lot of prestige into the enterprise. Short of the threat of armed conflict they have no incentive to budge.

Russia is in the driver seat, mainly because they know Trump is a thin-skinned short-sighted moron that doesn't comprehend the nuances of the situation, and can afford to wait to outmaneuver what ever rushed, ill-conceived plan we come up with.

Think you're giving Trump too much credit, he doesn't understand anything about this situation.

Not just the nuance.

Trump is getting advice from at least some people who have a very good understanding of that region, and of the effect of military responses. And nuance isn't always a plus.

We apparently just launched about 60 cruise missiles at an airfield(s), likely the one from which the attack was launched. This has Mattis' fingerprints all over it.

Assuming the intel that the Syrian government was actually responsible, I think this is a very good response. I really like the fact that it came very fast, that it was a lot of missiles, and that some might interpret it as reckless/ill-considered/dangerous. Because that's exactly what you want other nations considering testing you to think.

The Russians apparently warned us of the negative consequences if we took unilateral action against Syria, which makes this even better. Only warning was a few minutes so the Russians wouldn't have any planes in the air that might get hit.

What would you do in this situation? Why don't you share your opinion instead of just blindly criticizing Trump.

One thing to consider is that it is pretty common for other countries to "test" a new President, and see how he responds. For good or ill, U.S. Presidents have, for a very long time, at least claimed to take a strong position against other nations using WMD's, including chemical weapons. Trump was going to be judged by that standard.

Had we done nothing but talk, or just seek more resolutions/sanctions in the U.N. that would have taken months, it likely would have been perceived as a sign of weakness by Iran, NK, etc.. Taking a strong action in response to this, particularly one that shows a willingness to act unilaterally and without seeking approval first, is a good thing.

Trying really hard not to be mean. Thankyou

Tough situation and tough decisions. I don't trust Trump in a crisis, but I'm hoping the people around him have a solid plan in place.

Well all know I'm a cuck, but Obama's handling of the situation in Syria was subpar at best. Honestly, if the decision was up to me, I probably would have made a similar move. Military target attack to show the world use of chemical weapons cannot be normalized.

I have my doubts on how he may handle this situation moving forward, but I'm hoping for the best. Looks like the Trump/Putin bromance is being forced into its first real test.
