Welcome Deron Williams

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Lol at Paul Pierce

This guy quit on his clippers team

Orlando has already said that they are going after Derrick. I doubt he will stay given how little Lue is playing him and how little Cavs can afford to pay him.
Yea if they're taking on Jeff Green types I'm sure they'll look at Derrick.

You aren't the first to suggest this ....

“Before I got there, I looked at Deron as an MVP candidate,” Pierce told ESPN.com’s Jackie MacMullan. “But I felt once we got there, that’s not what he wanted to be. He just didn’t want that.

“I think a lot of the pressure got to him sometimes. This was his first time in the national spotlight. The media in Utah is not the same as the media in New York, so that can wear on some people. I think it really affected him.”

“It was just the guys’ attitudes there. It wasn’t like we were surrounded by a bunch of young guys. They were vets who didn’t want to play and didn’t want to practice. I was looking around saying, ‘What’s this?’ Kevin (Garnett) and I had to pick them up every day in practice.

“If me and Kevin weren’t there, that team would have folded up. That team would have packed it in. We kept them going each and every day.”

:(

It's a fair point, and Deron was also hated amongst his Olympic team members. It's prob not worth rehashing all those stories about Williams and Dwight forming their own clique while Wade, Melo, CP3, and LeBron had their own. And that some guys on the team questioned whether Williams should be on the squad based on his shape....

But I assumed LeBron was cool with the signing and wanted it based on him getting the call....

I will say this....Rick Carlisle had no issue getting productivity out of him. You'd think back-up PG in limited minutes would literally be the perfect spot for him. I think coming to a team without a true system or philosophy hampers just about anyone. We have no identity so it's tough to draw conclusions on anyone on our team IMO. It'd be interesting to see what this team looks like with Carlisle as head coach for sample and then see what Deron looks like in his back-up minutes....

What Deron has given to this team is easily replaced by a minimum salary PG.

Silly statement. This season in Dallas [40 games], Deron had an assist percentage of 40.1%. You know how many times LeBron had seasons with an assist percentage of 40 or greater? Two. 2009-2010 @ 41.1% 41.8% and this season @ 41.1%. That's incredible when you realize how much the team relied on LeBron to create those two seasons. Delly never sniffed greater than 27.

Deron didn't suddenly forget how to play point guard. He's being asked to do things he wasn't brought here to do. I mean wtf is a Kyrie/Deron/LeBron lineup and why is Deron standing in corners?

His offense is also fine imo. His shooting percentages and scoring averages thus far are roughly consistent with his career averages.

I don't think most people recognize what a shit-fuck of an offense we have. We are still largely an ISO ball team that doesn't do shit as far as an overall system. We haven't utilized Williams in even close to a style that would make him succesful.......but that's kinda what you get with Lue as head coach IMO.

Most teams would die to get Williams and just let him run P&R time after time as a back-up PG. That's too simple apparently in Cleveland....

I was saying for THIS team. I don't have faith that Lue will take the ball out of Lebron's or Kyrie's hands to effectively integrate Deron. I also don't know if it is worth it at this point in his career, it took 2 years for Love to fit into this team. How much longer is Deron going to be an effective player? At this point Deron is walking the ball up, passing it into the post, and standing in the corner waiting to take 3s. Wouldn't it be more effective to find a young point guard that does those thing, defends, and can grow into something more?

I'd be curious to see something (an article?) about this as I've never heard it. LeBron said he was very happy to have Deron and they've immediately had great on court chemistry, plus they always sit next to each other when they're both out of the game at the same time.

Deron was oftentimes better than CP3 on those teams as well simply because of his size and the physicality on the perimeter of FIBA.

The rumors about D-Will and Dwight aren't anything you'll find in articles. It came out in various leaks around the league around the time teams were forming "super powers".

For example, when rumors were flying CP3 wanted to team up with Dwight, literally every NBA insider laughed because they knew Paul and Dwight didn't get along. It wasn't even secret around the NBA. When Dwight made fun of LeBron in Cleveland with the chalk toss and mimicking......didn't go over well among the NBA elite. Just like it didn't go over well when Dwight entered the West All-Stars locker room and imitated Kobe.

Anyways, Dwight and Deron are best friends. Neither guy has a reputation for loving ball, and neither guy has ever really showed a "win first" attitude. It is what it is. If you can get Deron's talent at back-up PG you take it all day long IMO. The problem is now trying to force him into a system were there isn't one. Our offense is a joke.....that's probably a different convo though......

This DWill funk makes me wanna see Felder on the court... and I never thought that Felder would be ready this year... it feels like teams starts a comeback run anytime Deron is in the court... hopefully he snaps out of it soon, the cavs need to hold on leads better...

He has to be one of the worst PGs in the league at dribbling/ ball handling ; the ONLY way he can go North/South is by backing his slow ass in and becoming ripe for double teams , eating up shot clock and having poorer court vision. Moving on from there, has zero defensive ability; his basketball IQ seems to have fallen off of a cliff; and can't make an open layup. Have I forgotten anything? Oh yeah, seems more apt to make a turnover than a bucket.

Bacon Grease is terrible.
