2017 Browns Off Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Maybe it means they want/think they need to take a QB at 12 and plan to take someone else in that range.

It's worded terribly- I read it to say that the QBs at 19-21 will be ones that the Browns aren't interested in (like Pay Mahomes). Which only means....

The QB they ARE interested in will be right there at no. 22. Get the deal done with the Fins, Sashodesta!!!!
OR perhaps we were the team that told Davis Webb he was going to be a first rounder and we plan to trade up and take him in that 19-21 range.

For the record, I'd punch a baby if they did this. I don't like Webb that much, and if you truly want him, you should be able to nab him in the 2nd.

I actually read it as they don't like Mahomes, but were looking to get the 18-21 picks to get one of the other QBs left. I refuse to get pick 22 since all 22 picks have failed the Browns and is an unlucky number.

Yeah, hope the Browns are taking into account what the lucky numbers are.

Analytics.

Analytics say drafting a QB at 22 has failed to produce a producing QB, so it will not be good to draft a QB at 22 :fight (7):

If we make 3 picks on Day 1 w/o giving up a shit ton to move back up, that would be an exciting ass day for us to watch.

Now I don't think we should trade back up to nab a QB there, but I guess we have no idea who's gonna be there or what it will cost.

16 days away.

I would be happy, with exceptions.. As much as I try to be "get on-board with whoever they pick!" guy, I don't know how happy I'd be if the Browns take offense other than QB. Or, say they trade-up to take someone who everyone sees as someone who will be there at 33.

Normally I agree with you that caring about a pick number is meaningless.

But 22 has been a straight up curse multiple times, might just avoid it so we dont have to hear about how much it has been a curse from the media.

Flat out i would be stunned if this front office trades up for anyone in the first round area. We have heard several times they beleive the best value in the draft is after the first. Sorry i dount buy them trading up that early in the draft to give up 2 or more of their highest value picks.

But ive been saying for months i expext them to trade down from 12....

The only reason I could see it is to get back up there and get a 5th year option on a player. Shopping on a budget.

Mahomes hype is all media driven. He's a project and the Browns don't want that.

I noticed a lot of people labeling Webb, Dobbs, and Kayaa as projects in defense of Mahomes. Truth is he needs more work than all of them. I don't think The Browns want a QB who requires major improvement. Think they're going to target the best processors with the most talent/potential.

Are the browns on a budget?

I mean yes its a possible reason but one that is probably unlikely

If you love a guy and project him to be a big part of your plans going forward, getting more years of the draft-scaled peanuts salary is a huge bonus. Especially for a quarterback. So yes, if you want a guy at 33, you may try to get in the first to take him.

The point with naming people like Dobbs (which I would not mind taking) is we can get him in the 5th round. Where as taking Mahomes would cost a 1st rounder and taking away from a most likely starter right off the bat.

Plus, not calling Mahomes/Webb or anyone dumb, but Dobbs is a damn Aerospace Engineering major. Guy is very smart, which may bode well for our genius troupe. No way in absolute hell he would start, but if they think he can turn into something, and the people available in the 5th are not scored higher, you take him.

Then move on with Kessler and look forward to either: A) progress from both of them on our roster or; B) 2018 QB class or; C) both.
