#185 - Caleb Brantley, DT, Florida

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You read that differently than anyone else.

She didn't sustain much of an injury at all. She exaggerated that so she could sue.

He did push her away, not punch. If a 300lb athlete punched a 130lb woman in the face, she would have been severely injured, she was not.

You are believing the female, but the prosecutor said her story was inconsistent and had zero evidence to back it.

STOP BELIEVING THE GIRL'S STATEMENT, SHE WAS LYING.
Never believe a woman

Based on everything I've read, it sounds like she had it coming. She was shitfaced and started hitting him, and all he did was shove her away. Seems like a downright reasonable reaction to someone hitting him in the face.

You missed the part where she has a vag, thus we must automatically assume her as the victim, because of some "weaker sex" mumbo jumbo that totally contradicts the outcry for equality we hear from the same crowd on a daily basis.

Is this a serious post?

He was 300lbs and she was 120. That is why she is assumed to be weaker.

They didn't have enough to charge. But something happened. Unfortunate situation, but lets give the guy his 2nd chance.

I hope the Browns spend some of the huge amount of $ they will save on Brantley's contract to teach him how to stay out of trouble. Because, as Keys suggests, the NFL isn't going to grant second chances (no matter one's position about the first incident).

This is only great news for the Browns if Brantley acts like a professional going forward. Obviously, Browns have had other players who never learned that.

Did you read the release? That does not matter in the eyes if the law. You being smaller does not make you an automatic victim. If he shoved her away and she is an aggressor, he did absolutely nothing wrong. And that "something" that happened, sounds like it was that.

Common sense, really.

Ironic he was lecturing people about digging in on bad takes in the Indians threads... @sportscoach

jk jk...but no really. His take is really bad.

Hence why some of the stuff he says annoys me and I don't sit there and just bash others opinions, but what do I know lol

Either way it seems like Brantley's name is in the clear and he is free to play without any suspension I am pretty sure. We may end up with a pretty solid DLine cause of taking a chance on this kid. Garrett, Nassib, Ogbah, Ogunjobi, Shelton, Brantley with the Veteran Bryant, that's not a bad front there with probably one or two more guys competing for spots as well. Brantley may be one of the biggest steals of the draft is he lives up to his day two grade.

The eyes of the law aren't what's off putting about the story.

But like I said, not enough evidence to ever know. So he'll get his second chance.

I agree with you on some respects here. For example, if she started it and hit him, and he violently shoved her to the ground and it knocked her unconscious, yes... even if legally self-defense, I would roast him with you. He's an NFL DT and she's a small woman, after all.

However, the release states that she did not have any significant injuries and they had no reason to believe that he applied any real force back on her. The release also states that a neutral party was able to confirm his story. At no point was she knocked unconscious by Brantley nor did he punch her/knock out a tooth. So although he has plenty of character concerns, if he simply pushed her back/shielded her off without any significant/violent force, it seems like an understandable move.

It is rather off putting that a sober guy cant go into a bar to pick up a friend without getting physically assaulted by some drunk.

sizism is a turrible thing.

roast him for what? are unruly violent women immune to consequences for their actions.

You get that when in a physical altercation with a drunk the same amount of strength can result in both outcomes.

No...you said she was assumed to be weaker bcz she had a vagina and then spouted some redpill rhetoric.

She is assumed to be weaker bcz she is half his size. Same reason that if you punch a second grader who was kicking you, you're gonna have a bad time.

Maybe she was the aggressor. But like the second grader, the 300lb lineman probably shouldn't knock her out.

Anyways, let's hope he is a model citizen and plays well.

I don't think Brantley is guilty of anything but defending himself from a drunk person that was punching him, but holy shit some of y'all need a reality check.

There have been some cringeworthy posts in this thread.

Are you serious? Listen, I'm defending his actions here.

However, if she's a drunk girl and he's a huge NFL football player, even if she "deserves" it he shouldn't be violently shoving her to the ground with intent to harm her. I'm talking about a "this bitch is gonna get what's coming to her" type of shove. That's unnecessary based on his size versus her being a drunk girl.

Shielding her off/pushing her back are needed here, and it sounds like that's what he did. However, even if it would've been self-defense, if he actually punched her in the dome or shoved her with intent to seriously harm her, that is just wrong. I don't think I should even have to explain this, frankly.

I wonder if its okay for me to bust some 350lb dude in the face and not expect any retaliation because I only weigh 170.
