The next star or super star safari.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Melo has negative value. He is a declining player w a perceived attitude problem on a MASSIVE, bloated contract

NYK are going to have to give something to someone to move him

Not a move for a star player, but just connecting the dots...

Portland has 3 1sts and said they'll trade a pick for cap relief. Gerald Henderson makes $9 mill but only $1 mill is guaranteed if cut prior to July 30th.

Cavs Get:
Covington
Harkless
2017 Blazers 1st

Blazers Get:
Henderson

76ers Get:
Shump
Cedi

Cavs wind up with two long, versatile defenders and a 1st. Blazers get $8 mill in immediate cap relief and a total of almost $30 mill over the course of the next three years. 76ers start building their non-existent SG spot.

Tony Allen, Tyreke Evans, Zach Randolph, Jrue Holiday, George Hill, Jeff Teague, Ibaka, PJ Tucker, Wade, Redick, Gay, David Lee, Taj Gibson, NENE, D Rose, Bogut

Just a list of free agents who may sign here cheap?

I'd like to know what stage of his career Taj Gibson feels like he's in. Does he want more money, or does he want to make a Finals for the first time? We could really use a good defensive 4.

Maybe 3 guys in that list are actual options IMO

I said it before and i will say it again:

I think we dont need to break up our Big 3. We need better(and especially better defending) Role Players. Lebron and Kyrie both doing 30 with Love at 16+ that should be enough Offensive Firepower.

I mean sure if we can get a Butler or George.. go for it.. But no to a guy like Melo.. is is NOT what we need.

We need to completly rethink our construction. Outshooting and Outscoring GSW just wont work. We have to become the best defensive Team in the NBA that can hold GSW to under 100 every Game.

We need some guys like Covington,Thabo that can really bother KD and hit the Open Three.
We need a Rim Protector that can stop the bleeding at the Rim.(TT has to be our Bench Energy Big)
We need a backup PG that can run the Offense AND play at least some defense.

We dont need another Scorer.

Guys like George and Butler would be great because they could Adapt to beeing 16-17 PPG Scorers while beeing Defensive Player of the Year canidates. They could work even if we kept Love.

But beyond those two no Superstar that is rumoured the be available really intersts me.

I rather keep our Core intact but bolster it with 3-4 great Two way Role Players.

We did not lose because we lacked the 4th Star.. We did lose because our defense was not up to even slightly bothering GSW..

Knowing how much Philly loves to get picks, why would they even want us in the deal? They would much rather get a pick for themselves while getting an asset. Also highly doubt they would want someone like Shump making a lot on a deal that lasts a few more seasons. Doesn't make much sense to me.

Here is a deal that makes sense for all three teams

Cavs get: Melo
Timberwolves get: Shumpert
Knicks get: Frye, RJ, Jordan Hill, Minnesota future 2nd. Cavs future 2nd.

For the Knicks, they clear $10MM in salary this year, and $20MM after next year. Frye and RJ are deadline trades to teams like Houston, and Spurs.

For the TWolves, they dump a useless Hill and add a wing player they like.

For the Cavs, it's obvious. Kyrie/Melo/LBJ/Love/TT Bench: JR, Korver, Cedi, Derrick Williams, Felder. (OK we need a backup PG)

They'll have two 1st round rookies this year in Simmons and #3. Two next year if they keep their pick and the Lakers pick. They have 4 2nds this year. They need to start converting some into players, not acquiring more. Plus, they loved Cedi. He and Saric played together in Turkey.

Covington is going to get a larger, longer deal next year than what Shumpert is making and they have the future of thefranchiseinSimmons at the same position.
