The Paul George Safari: LeBron Strikes Back!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I call BS. Love just averaged 19-11 as a 3rd option :chuckle: claimed his All-star spot back, had a terrific playoffs, (besides some finals games)
Exactly, not saying a deal will happen. But these articles are all contradicting eachother. It's all fog of war stuff. These writers are only hearing one side of the story of just straight up getting BS that people want out there for one reason or another.
Depends on how other teams view Love.

For some it seemed like Love against the Celtics was T-Wolves Love. His stock was an all time high. For others that finals showed Love...for being whats he's been so far. Solid #s, but no real impact on the game against elite teams. Great as a stretch 5 offensively, but helpless defensively (again at center)

All it takes is one though. Phoenix is the team that still seems high on Love. Get the 4th pick and maybe we can flip it for another star.

Maybe instead of getting another star for Love. We need to get 3 or 4 solid additions to this roster instead.

Would the Suns do a Bledsoe, Chandler (maybe allows for a TT trade down the road), Warren, draft pick (Another asset to flip? Ok I'm dreaming) for Love?

Its not Kevin's fault, but we really need to have a complete roster or hope he or Kyrie happen to take another giant step forward next year.

Nah it's a wrap...

People aren't beating down the door for Kevin Love. He's just not that well regarded around the league.

Don't think he's getting traded...

Someone make sure Koby Altman goes to the bathroom just before the draft starts to make sure he doesn't have to step out when Phoenix is on the clock.

Should've flipped him for a 4th pick, Griffin was right.
How's this for ironic. Imagine if we did flip him for the 4th pick. We draft a 6'8" guard/forward out of Kansas. Then try to trade him for a better asset.

Talk about Deja Vu.... Hell if Jackson could shoot like Wiggins I'd be all for keeping him to be honest..Greater defensive potential..

Maybe not. The league is looking at how to beat GS. There's two years worth of finals tape/ 12 games to look at. Unfortunately, maybe 4-5 of them can be labeled ok to good?
He isn't a player that shifts the needle in your favor vs GS. The league seems to think there are two obtainable players that can, and that's PG and Butler.
Now, I still like KL and believe he looked better this year vs GS, and believe he can improve vs them next year perhaps.
But you have to get there, and he has issues in the regular season and breaks down.
Add Melo (without giving up Love) a C and pg and let's take another crack at them. That's my wish.

This is where I think some people are not seeing the real need to get role players so LeBron doesn't need to be at 100% speed in every aspect of the game for all the minutes he is on the floor. If you take some more ball handling and defense (especially on Durant) off Lebron's plate he most likely wouldn't be exhausted in the 4th quarter of game 3 and 5.

Getting a guy like Butler or George will help but they better be able to take on everything Love gave us and be able to take enough off Lebron's shoulders too. This is where I think a Big 4 with Melo vs a new Big 3 with Butler or George comes into real debate. I think Melo will definitely take a good chunk off LeBron shoulder to keep him fresh but I still question if George or Butler would be able to take that same chunk and effectively take on all Love did for this team.

With a George/Butler trade, we better be ready to get bunch of versatile role players to round out the roster. With Melo+current big 3, I don't think the need is as high, we could get away with one or two additions in free agency.
If it's rebounding you're talking about then no neither one of them will surpass 10 boards more than a couple of games, though George has shown that he can be a great rebounder at his position. Love honestly doesn't offer much else that they can't make up for. His outlet passing will be replaced by better passing in the half court. Get an adequate big to help rebound.

I think this is a narrative that is largely overblown. Why? Because currently there are two players in the league you could realistically build a team around to beat GSW.

1. Is LeBron.
2. Is Kawhi

If you have neither of those players, there is nothing you can do other than put a quality product on the floor. Doesn't matter what other teams are looking at or trying to do in this theoretical world....it's not gonna happen and ( in my personal opinion) way more GM's and owners are honest about that than anyone on this board thinks.

Owners, in large part, aren't stupid. A team with Kevin Love is entertaining and he's one of the most marketable players among non NBA fans. He sells tickets, he's under team control and he is a good player in a pace and space league.

I don't buy Windy's schtick for a second. Kevin Love is coming off a season in which he averaged 19/11, made an All-Star team and is under team control for several years. He has PLENTY of value around the league. I can ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE this is not about the value he has around the league and it is ENTIRELY about our owner being scared to retool and forgo team control a year away from LeBron's FA.

If we wanted to trade Kevin Love today we could but our biggest problem is the return on that trade. We would either get:

1. Draft assets that don't help us win next year.
2. A player that carries much more risk, ala a Paul George.

That is why we are stuck on the Love front. #1 we take a rather large step back with LeBron's free agency looming and prime waning. #2 We open ourselves up to the roster dissolving and being left with few avenues to rebuild.

Love has value, just not the type of value WE want back for him. I'm sure if there was a All-Star-ish wing under control who we could trade him for he'd be gone but there's not. I honestly think it has nothing to do with his value around the league and more to do with the asset match just not being there for the Cavs.

Sounds like you guys are finally ready for reality.

Only Cavs move in this offseason is obtaining Melo in 3 team deal while trading out Love.

If we want any chance at keeping Lebron past 2018 this is the deal we will need to make.

Its the deal we will make.

As I told you all days ago.

The hold up here is Pacers infatuation with Josh Jackson (allegedly). Thinking here is that the Suns 4th pick (if they can't get Boston's 3rd) will hold a ton of value if Jackson is still on the board. Pacers have tried to get the Lakers pick as well.

Pacers not wanting Love was already reported hence why Griffin was looking for a 3rd team, it's just that people were being delusional about what we could off (TT + Shump). Love is being extremely underrated because of his role here sadly. The Suns will have to think about whether or not they want to draft another Lens or Bender at 4 again or get an established big like Love or Aldridge.

Why is an All-Star stretch 4, in a league that's built on 3pt shooting, a bad trade for a 1 year rental of a guy who's already stated he wants to be a Laker?

I don't see how anybody else in the NBA is going to offer anything better, unless they're crazy, I think Love is becoming the most underrated player in the league, yes he lacks toughness and defense, but hes still a great player to have with Value, if you put him next to a Gobert type player its a perfect fit for him.

Maybe the simplest explanation is they want a tear down of the roster and do a complete rebuild. Adding Love and his contract means you're trying to compete. Maybe?? Like I said we think its overpay for a possible 1 year rental but the Pacers ultimately decide what value

They could easily flip Love for other future assets if they wanted to imo
