2017 Trade Deadline

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
LOL WTF are the Mets doing?

They trade Jay Bruce, who would net them draft pick compensation when he walks, for Ryder Ryan?

I would be PISSED if I was a Mets fan

Ryan is one of those guys who actually has a high potential, but he was a two way player in high school and college from what I can tell about him. He may end up better than expected, but we really need to ask like Bimbo or AZ_ how much they know about him. It made sense in my mind for the Indians to make the move.

Indians will be going with 12 pitchers so if everyone is healthy

Kluber, Carrasco, Salazar, Bauer, Tomlin, Otero, McAllister, Shaw, Miller, Allen, Smith then last spot will be between Goody/Olson/Vetern LH (we still may acquire one soon since Logan went down)

As of right now a guy like Clevinger will not be on the main roster for the playoffs unless Tomlin cannot come back. Otero is on the playoff roster so Clev will not be on the roster over him. Now if they decide to keep Clev it will be over Goody.

Position players we will keep 13 probably if healthy between

Gomes, Perez, EE, Santana, Kipnis, Lindor, Ramirez, Chisenhall, Brantley, Zimmer, Jackson, Guyer so then the last spot will be between Bruce, Gonzalez, Urshela, Yandy etc.

It is very possible Bruce doesn't actually make the playoff roster if he is playin poorly and everyone else is healthy. Zimmer I always said should be on the playoff roster as at least a bench role even if he isn't playing everyday cause he could be a pinch runner/def sub. This team actually may be better suited for the playoffs than the regular season in some ways.

Where do you come up with this shit coach?

Well that is what makes the most sense to me, so I post it! Also we are likely going to keep the best 25 guys regardless of price. Bruce isn't a bad player, but if he is hitting poorly plus we don't have any infielders if we keep 6 OFs. I cannot see going below 12 pitchers nor keeping 6 OFs so something has to give and the last roster spot for the pitchers and position players is not set at all.

There's a reason the Indians picked him up, and it's not letting him off the postseason roster. Thats just dumb. He can hit a HR any given time, especially when it becomes a matchup game.

This is also good news and Indians did some homework.

Jay Bruce at Progressive Field:

100 PA, a slash of .385/.440/.595/1.030

Let's see if we still treat him good.

I am not saying he won't be on the final roster, I am just saying there is no way he is a lock for the roster. Going with 6 OFs is a bit risky in some ways since none of them have played in the INF outside of 1st base for Bruce and Brantley and 3rd for Chisenhall. That essentially makes an injury to Ramirez or Lindor during a game something that could really effect us since we don't have the proper guys.

If everyone is healthy, what makes the most sense is going with an 11 man pitching staff.

That means a guys like Goody/Olson will be off the playoff roster leaving us with one lefty out of the pen in Miller. It is rare someone goes with a light bullpen especially someone like Francona who likes to have a full bullpen at all times. McAllister and Otero aren't going to be off the roster for the playoffs. I actually think they may try and get another LH reliever before the 31st of Aug as well if anyone who makes sense is available and better than Olson.

Z-Mach is easily losing trust by the pitch. Cleveland fans will have hospitals busy when he pitches.

So we are leaving off a guy who has a 2.27 ERA off the roster? Otero will be left off before McAllister in all honesty

10 of the 12 runs McAllisters has given up this season have been off of his 6 HRs he has allowed in 36 appearances and 47.2 innings. Okay and you say I am talking shit? Otero has been way, way worse overall than McAllister. Olson is a long shot to make it since he has to prove he can do, which he has never been able to do in the past. We aren't keeping a lefty just cause so he has to earn it.

We literally went with an 11 man pitching staff for the ALDS roster last season.

Sure, some of that was due to injuries, but that will be balanced out this season (provided we're fully healthy) with Cookie & Salazar in the fold. We also happened to only go with 1 lefty as well last season.

You play the hand you're dealt. If fully healthy, it does not make any sense at all, with the roster we have, to leave a Jay Bruce off of the playoff roster when you don't need a 5 man rotation for the postseason.

:chuckle:

Last postseason even with a shortened staff, he pitched 0 IP in the ALDS, 1 IP in the ALCS, 2 IP in the WS, and he was bad, 3 ER.

ALDS is also a 5 game series rather than a 7 game series. Francona I doubt will ever go down to a 11 man bullpen for a 7 games series hence why Ryan Merritt was added to the roster for the ALCS. If we go down to 11 pitchers, that means Olson is off the roster, so we won't have a second lefty at any time in the playoffs and its either Goody or Otero who will also be left off as well. McAllister has actually had a good season overall. Otero got the innings since he had a lot better year.

I am not saying that it is not possible, but there is not a good probability of keeping all 6 OFs for the playoffs on the roster. Also if Bruce comes over and stinks up the place then yeah we aren't forced to keep him on the roster.

The Mets just gave away a 1st round pick for Ryder Fucking Ryan....

I like the move for the Indians. They got a 30 HR guy for $4 Mil in cash.

Just saying I'd be pissed if i'm a Mets fan.

That said Bruce will be on the play off roster and is Santana insurance basically. Meaning we get a cheap Bruce or Santana next year, then all the ones asking will need Bruce to play first base will be revealed. Meanwhile the Indians got a steal here make no mistake about it.

If we lose him in free agency do we get a first round pick?
