2017 Trade Deadline

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I feel like we have a lot of SS prospects in our system that ranked high last time I checked? Anyone worth a damn? Anyone able to jump in after Kip is done at 2nd?

He's a tick above league average, but home runs get him to be overrated by the casual fan.

Yeah but he can not hurt if assume he won't be relied on like he was in NY. Every fan said he was the best hitter this year for them. As I said he might get EE to relax with his power alone.

When the Indians window is up and they are in sell mode I figure we will re stack that position and if not then I assume drafting and well I am not of the name but only one guy pops in my head that was ranked well and closer to MLB then the rest. Bimbo and AZ are the ones to ask about this.

There really isn't a ton of shortstop depth in the system.

Willy Castro is really the only guy I'd project at the position long term.

Gonzalez and Castro would be in line to take over at 2B, Tyler Freeman probably has the highest ceiling but he's 17 and will still be a few years away.

What about Cheng?

My ideal 25 man roster, if everyone is healthy. I carry all 6 OFs, they all bring something to the table.

1. Gomes
2. Perez
3. Edwin
4. Santana
5. Kipnis
6. Lindor
7. Jose
8. Brantley
9. Zimmer
10. Jackson
11. Chisenhall
12. Guyer
13. Bruce
14. Kluber
15. Cookie
16. Salazar
17. Bauer
18. Tomlin
19. Clevinger
20. Shaw
21. Miller
22. Allen
23. Smith
24. Olson
25. E. Gonzalez / Urshela

Man, that's an awfully thin pen. No Otero, McAllister or Goody included on your roster.

True

But it still makes sense to carry an extra bat over a arm come postseason where Its all hands on deck for the pen.

What are the chances of the last arm in the pen being more valuable than a bat off the bench?

Is Tomlin going to be healthy for postseason if the Indians make it, which is still a big IF.

So when this outfield is healthy, who is the odd man out? I can't figure this out.

Maybe:

VS LHP
LF Brantley
CF Jackson
RF Bruce

VS RHP
LF Brantley
CF Chisenhall
RF Bruce

Would hate to see Zimmer lose time, but he could stay up as a pinch runner and defensive replacement.

The defense will suffer with Chisenhall in CF, but it would be hard to believe Bruce wouldn't get everyday ABs. His 118 OPS+ this season is equal to Brantley's.

What do people think?

Random question, but did anyone on here play baseball in either high school, college or in a rec league?

Yea. I would think that Clevinger or Tomlin, depending on health, would be replaced by Otero. I cant see 6 starters, even if you want to call one of them long relief.

How long are those two expected to be out?

From what Hamilton has been saying, Chisenhall is behind schedule, but possibly could be in a rehab assignment soon (so until he gets rehab assignment/at bats we won't know). Brantley has a sprained ankle which with the fact we want everyone healthy will be at least two weeks from now. So both at earliest will be late August/Early September. Tomlin won't be ready until September probably as well.

So it's likely we carry a fairly big September roster once we can expand rosters depending on the position Columbus will be in the playoffs. So projected 25 man roster for the playoffs will be tough to predict since the Indians still may make another move (for another LH bullpen arm).

Indians will be going with 12 pitchers so if everyone is healthy

Kluber, Carrasco, Salazar, Bauer, Tomlin, Otero, McAllister, Shaw, Miller, Allen, Smith then last spot will be between Goody/Olson/Vetern LH (we still may acquire one soon since Logan went down)

As of right now a guy like Clevinger will not be on the main roster for the playoffs unless Tomlin cannot come back. Otero is on the playoff roster so Clev will not be on the roster over him. Now if they decide to keep Clev it will be over Goody.

Position players we will keep 13 probably if healthy between

Gomes, Perez, EE, Santana, Kipnis, Lindor, Ramirez, Chisenhall, Brantley, Zimmer, Jackson, Guyer so then the last spot will be between Bruce, Gonzalez, Urshela, Yandy etc.

It is very possible Bruce doesn't actually make the playoff roster if he is playin poorly and everyone else is healthy. Zimmer I always said should be on the playoff roster as at least a bench role even if he isn't playing everyday cause he could be a pinch runner/def sub. This team actually may be better suited for the playoffs than the regular season in some ways.

LOL WTF are the Mets doing?

They trade Jay Bruce, who would net them draft pick compensation when he walks, for Ryder Ryan?

I would be PISSED if I was a Mets fan
