Well, in a nut shell, the nuclear testing bomb, was the creation of BOB. Maybe even the creation of the Black Lodge itself?
The gotta light guy, I take it was also created from that, and is part of the black lodge.
Might explain in the earlier episodes, where BOB's presence was described as scorched engine oil.
The rest, I don't know, man... It's Lynch, it was one of the most fucked up, incredible, bizarre, and amazing visual experience I've ever had.
The Laura's face on that glowing ball, to me, was the biggest question mark. Was Laura created, too, when the Giant was???? WTF.
This is just me spit balling it. That the young girl, from the 50s, might be Laura Palmer's mother.
And that cockroach, that crawled inside her was actually BOB. But, BOB actually came inside Leland when he was a boy, so I'm not so sure about that.
Maybe the boy the girl kissed, is Leland though?
Also, Cooper is back, IMO.
I think the Cooper that woke up, is our good old Cooper. Remember, the doppleganger Cooper/Bob, was still out there, and Cooper couldn't completely come back as Cooper until Bob/Evil Dale returns. Now, he's gone, presumably back into the Black Lodge?
I think our good ole' Dale is back. I at least hope so. The Dougie shit was cute, but getting old, not sure how much more I can take of it. Although Janey-E, played by Noami Watts is killing it.
Wouldn't the boy be Leland? IIRC he was the one inhabited by BOB, not Sarah.
I get the whole origins-of-BOB thing. I guess I just don't get the timing (that, and the full-length NIN song.) Like, why go there now? It reminds me of "Lost" when right in the middle of a multi-storyline season they just dropped in a random episode about the backstory of Jacob and the Man in Black.
As far as Dougie/Dale is concerned I really think Lynch is slow-playing us, knowing he's in it for the long haul and Showtime won't do him like ABC did. We might not get a resolution there until next season, seriously. And I agree about Naomi Watts, she is beasting it.
Anyway, as fucked up as that episode was the visuals were incredible. No complaints here, I'm on this ride until the terminus.
