The General Terrorist Rampage Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Communism is a worse ideology than Nazism, or .. "at best" .. they are equal?

Bro............. I've been to China, Laos and Vietnam.. I can't wait to go back to both China and Vietnam.. I .. just can't imagine this comparison of ideologies making much sense.
The actual ideology isn't worse. In theory of course nazism is a worse ideology. However, in practice I would argue that communism has had more disastrous effects.

Why do the differences matter? Sure they are different ideologies, but communism is arguably worse. Communism killed nearly 100 million people last century. At best communism and nazism are equally terrible.

Would you argue that inner city kids are dying because of capitalism?

I don't think I would, but that's seemingly what you're doing by attributing death to political ideology.

This really doesn't make sense though... Communism is working in China right now (not from an American perspective, but certainly from a Chinese perspective). I would argue that you're only looking at body counts without consideration for how the ideologies manifest themselves into policies.

I'm not trying to make any defense of communism; but, to me, it makes no sense to argue that somehow, that say China is equivalent to Nazi Germany. That's absurd.

You could simply ask someone who is German, someone who is Chinese, and someone who is Jewish what they think of that comparison...

I'm not refuting your point, but it made me think of people loving Cancun yet people are fleeing Mexico in droves. Tourists have very different experiences than citizens from what I've read.

Now let's see if I can screw up your demographic today, but don't you have an Asian wife, is she from those areas? If so, I'm sure your experience there was much more authentic than most. :)

I wasn't a tourist per se; was there on business... Know many Chinese... Most Chinese folks I know don't have a specific issue with CCP even though I do.. And when I try to talk about it, they just tell me that I don't understand.. and they're partial right.

Yep, my wife is Asian, she's not from China though; she's 3/4 Filipino, 1/4 White (Spain). But, comparatively, she somewhat supported the Marcos dictatorship and so does the majority of her family.

If so, I'm sure your experience there was much more authentic than most. :)

Err.. I was with Chinese folks, and one of my best friends is Chinese-Vietnamese (parents were North Vietnamese, so... think about it). But my wife isn't fond of China or Japan, FWIW... although she does like Vietnam.

Personally, I think people misunderstand Chinese communism if/when they compare it to Maoism. I'm not a fan of either, and while I do think the CCP is disgusting, comparing it to outright Nazism is frankly absurd.

While we could have a good time picking apart everything wrong with the chart above, it really boils down to one question:

Have we been too hard on Nazi's this weekend?

It's weird because of the 3-4 Filipino's I know, they also do not like China/Japan. Wonder if it's a big brother region effect.

I honestly do not remember a single post all weekend that attributed this march to Republicans. It's been very openly anti-Nazi/Supremecist/Nationalist with a sprinkle of Trump's statement fucking sucked. This hasn't been blamed on republicans, it's been blamed on those who should be.

Of course, none of them have been.

Even fucking Paul Ryan mustered up enough courage to speak out. I've been blaming it on Nazi's and white supremacists, personally.

I've also been wondering why there are people trying to both sides this event, because it doesn't appear to be very both sided.

Although there hasn't been much discussion about how Republicans pushed bills to make it legal to run over protesters...

But yeah, this hasn't been tied to any Republicans other than Trump really, since every single one of those torch-carrying lunatics support him (with a margin of error of about 2 people :chuckle:).

It doesnt sound like you understand the legislation.

There was a post upthread linking a tweet by Mr. Daily Kos himself equating all conservatives and NRA members to Nazis.

More generally, the pattern has been to tie anyone who supports Trump to the alt-right, which in turn is tied to racists and Nazis. It's the entire logic behind the rationale of socially ostracizing anyone who voted for the guy in the general election and doesn't regret it.
