Cavs Acquire Mo Williams; Trade Joe Smith & Amon Ones

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Something like this would be awesome.

I'm quite late to jump in on this thread, but I'm assuming I'm with the other 95% in liking this trade. Williams can shoot, create his own offense, and whilst not being great by point guards standard, can create for others. This will be massive in those times we try and rest LeBron. The fact he is comfortable as a point off the ball, is good news with a team that has the ball in the hands of LeBron as much as we do. Defense is a concern, but with the system we have in place, I'm sure it wont hurt us as much as some carry on.

We will miss Joe Smith and his deadly J and occasional post play. We will miss his depth more then anything else. As this roster stands, we have alot of pressure on 2 ageing vets, and an often injured forward/center who was thought to be on the block. We can all hope Hickson can find an early niche into the NBA game and contribute, but thats a stretch most likely. This also makes signing up Jackson a touch more important. In saying all this, I wont be surprised to see a minor move made to get us one more active big.

Now to the best part of the trade. Seeya Amon Ones. Lets hope LeBron can put you on a poster again. Actually thats not possible. Damon you are now the 4th string point for Milwaukee. Ridnour, Lue, Sessions then I guess Amon. Its a shame you cannot be thrown down to NBDL. They are really lacking a 12th man on those squads.

Good move Ferry. How you did this whilst sitting on your hands is beyond me.

For once I now want Ferry to sit on his hands until the trade deadline!!!! If he can add a big for cheap that's fine but I want to have the contracts of Wally and Snow to make a move at the deadline.... if needed.

Like everyone has said, there will be many more quality players available at the deadline than there are now.... Ferry can't get impatient and trade Wally for someone like Curry or Zack.

anyone care to guess his jersey number, i think 25 is too busy hanging from the rafters!

I think Mo has worn 25 his entire career, but that number forever belongs to Mark Price in Cavs history. If I had to guess, Mo might go with 23....just kidding. I think he goes with 2, 5, 24, or 26. Of course, he could alway pull a Drew Gooden and go with 52.

Dough Collins said he talked to Lebron before the USA vs Greece game this morning. He asked him how felt about Mo being traded to the Cavs, Lebron said he was very happy.

I like the trade...even though I'm concerned about the PF spot, Williams is a HUGE UPGRADE:thumbup:

Now do I believe Hickson can handle Smith's minutes?
Right now no...but sometimes U never know..
I expect Ferry to fix that hole soon..

Can't say that I agree, with the hole left by Joe Smith's absence I don't think we will have much success going into the season even with the addition of Mo. Ferry will have to get someone in there by the start of season that can either bang inside or hit a jumper.

I am happy that we did not even lose Delonte in this trade. Joe Smith is somewhat important to the team because he is the only power forward who can shoot but problem is he is now aging. What we have to do now is find a PF and SG. Maybe we can trade Delonte/Pavlovic/Varejao for Barbosa/Diaw. I dont know if this is possible. Seems like Phoenix is looking for a backup PG.

Mo/Boobie
Barbosa/Wally
Lebron/Kinsey
Diaw/Hickson
Z/Big Ben

Not sure why we would do that trade. Barbosa is a simular to west type player, and diaw is an undersized 4 or slow 3. In now way does that trade make us better. Barbosa no longer fits what we need at sg now that west isnt our starting pg, and diaw never fit the mb scheme defensively and thats why gooden is no longer a cav. And on top of that, we loose our best defensive wing player in sasha. Sasha now fits the mold we need at sg. Our 2 biggest needs on this team is a scoring pf (maybe hickson some day) and a back-up/future starter at center.

What I think we need at the 2 is a lock down defender who can guard the other teams best player, and still has a decent jump shot on offense.

Kinsey could be this. He supposedly is a good defender and averaged 18 pts for the Grizzlies at one point.

I agree we dont really need diaw, but I am sure Barbosa will be a huge upgrade over Pavlovic. He can defend well too.
