I'm quite late to jump in on this thread, but I'm assuming I'm with the other 95% in liking this trade. Williams can shoot, create his own offense, and whilst not being great by point guards standard, can create for others. This will be massive in those times we try and rest LeBron. The fact he is comfortable as a point off the ball, is good news with a team that has the ball in the hands of LeBron as much as we do. Defense is a concern, but with the system we have in place, I'm sure it wont hurt us as much as some carry on.
We will miss Joe Smith and his deadly J and occasional post play. We will miss his depth more then anything else. As this roster stands, we have alot of pressure on 2 ageing vets, and an often injured forward/center who was thought to be on the block. We can all hope Hickson can find an early niche into the NBA game and contribute, but thats a stretch most likely. This also makes signing up Jackson a touch more important. In saying all this, I wont be surprised to see a minor move made to get us one more active big.
Now to the best part of the trade. Seeya Amon Ones. Lets hope LeBron can put you on a poster again. Actually thats not possible. Damon you are now the 4th string point for Milwaukee. Ridnour, Lue, Sessions then I guess Amon. Its a shame you cannot be thrown down to NBDL. They are really lacking a 12th man on those squads.
Good move Ferry. How you did this whilst sitting on your hands is beyond me.
