2018 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Who's the top QB in this draft? Who are the top 10 players? We need o get two of the top 10 players. At this moment I'm not sold on drafting a QB in the first round. Still a lot of season left for Kizer. I just want to know who you guys think is the top guy.

I want Baker Mayfield as far away from Cleveland as possible. Have we learned nothing?

Why?

Because he's short he's Manziel?

Get out of here you're better than that. The Browns need to take not one but two shots, and higher up picks, on QB's in this draft. Keep taking shots until you hit on one. It's the only way to solve this problem by bypassing the sheer luck factor.

This is not a smart strategy. You can't develop three young QB's at the same time. You can't.

Not because he looks like Manziel, but he seems to play like Manziel. He, too has no respect or feel for a pocket. He's not always looking to run, I'll give him that, but he thrives not by moving the pocket, but by abandoning it. That'll get a little guy killed in the NFL. He's also short and one of the things people love about him is.... his demeanor, his "moxie". So, it's the physical make-up that I don't like more than anything, but the "intangible" attractiveness scares me.

Just like Money Manziel, I'll root for whomever they draft. I just sincerely hope they don't bank on Baker Mayfield as the future of the Browns.

There isn't. Nobody has separated themselves from the group yet.

We'll see how things unfold in the coming months.

If the status quo remains the same, I'm with you. Take James, trade up for one of the QB's, even if it isn't the first one off the board.

Then give me some later guys the Browns can pick that are better talent wise. I'll wait.

If you can get Rosen at #1 and Mayfield later you fucking do it. Both are good players, and both have a good chance to be good QB's in the league. Just because a player is short doesn't mean shit. AKA Drew Brees and Russell Wilson.

Says who?

What? Okay I'll play along. Kizer finishes this year out. He has some moments but you're not completely sold on him. You draft Sam Darnold in the top 10 next year and Baker Mayfield later on in the draft. Who's your day 1 starter? Who's the backup? Are you gonna carry all three all season? Are you gonna give them all game reps? You are seriously going to try and play two rookies and a second year QB who will still be one of the youngest QB's in the league?

I disagree because I don't think you just take 2 QBs and blink, and it's all fixed. Drew Brees loves his pocket (and is incredibly accurate) and Russ Wilson is the exception. There needs to be a reason why Baker Mayfield is the guy, not why other guys show that he can be. I don't see that reason; I see a kid flattened outside the tackle box, which is why I don't want him.

Who's the starter?

Whoever the fuck is the best QB of the bunch.

Who's the back-up?

Whoever the fuck is the second best.

Who's third string?

Whoever sucks the most (Kizer)

You play when you earn it.

I'm not ready to trade up for any QB yet. We have the draft capital to literally get whatever we want in the draft next year. I think the losing has led some people to lose sight of this but I don't think the FO has. That being said with our first pick which looks like it will be top 5 at worst we have to take the BPA not best QB. With our second first round pick the only way I'm trading up for a QB is if there are serious question marks with Kizer. Right now there's just too much time left to cast him away. At seasons end this will be more clear.

As of today though my approach would be to draft Derwin James with our first pick. Even if it's number 1 overall. With our next pick I would trade up for Saquon Barkley. Two impact players who are arguably the two best players in the whole draft. This hinges on how well Kizer plays and how much they believe in him.

I think Mayfield has great eyes, and pretty incredible accuracy.

He is good in the pocket too. His weakness is he bails quickly. What QB doesn't have weaknesses?

The Redskins took Cousins the same year as RGIII. It's a good plan when trying to solve the QB problem. It doesn't have to be Mayfield, although he's certainly better than any other prospects you can possibly name right now that have a realistic shot of falling to a later pick in the draft.

And you just wasted valuable draft capital that could be used to help that QB. It's just not a smart strategy. It also says a lot about the HC and FO to invest that much draft capital in three QB's that high in such a short period of time. Then you actually have to let these guys play long enough to see if they are capable. Imagine if Phill drafted Wentz and Goff and let Goff start first and benched him for Wentz because of his play. He's much improved now but they would've never known. You ned to identify "A" guy and roll with him. Not some guys and pick the one who looks good in a short span. this isn't CFB.
