I'm not saying one's positions about everything are discredited. I'm saying a person's credibility is harmed by exposed prejudice, particularly as it relates to topics involving those prejudices.

Also, did anyone notice how this conversation isn't about Breitbart anymore?

To make doubly clear, I wasn't even talking about TyGuy, I said look at his likes. So if you want to be mad about me calling someone a racist, be mad on behalf of Huber. Oh, and another reminder, that was a joke, hence the chuckle face. Huber has posted some nonsense on here but I don't think he goes around in a white hood if that's what you think. Racism and what qualifies as making someone racist is a lot to unpack, but you misinterpreted my post if you thought my joke was an endorsement for an article I haven't even read.

If I see a statement I think is racist, I will respond to the statement. Again, I don't think we have regular posters that are neo-Nazis. And since people are so testy about the word racist, why would it even be constructive to label people like that? Discuss the point instead.

But as Gouri has pointed out, some people clearly WANT to be called racist so they can play victim and pretend they've won the argument. That's about you @TyGuy, in case you think I'm beating around the bush. There is a faction of conservatives who LOVE to think that liberals are just morons who think everything is racist, so if they get called a racist, that means they won. That's not what is happening here but you want to play that game, clearly. You play it a lot.

Can't speak for Gouri, but I don't want the site to ban any sources. I think it should be acceptable for the mods to allow ANY source to be posted on here so long as it isn't breaking any laws.

What I would love though, is for us to get to a point where we, as a forum, treat Breitbart like the extremist rag that it is rather than a source of news from "the other side."

I've been consistent in not linking from sources that I feel are compromised because their mission is more about supporting a worldview than covering news. I don't post, nor rep, any sites like ShareBlue for instance. Hell I avoid HuffPo and Salon personally.

We all agree that it's possible for any source to produce a legitimate news article, but discerning between sources is important because you can't always verify every item of a story on your own. And it's especially concerning when we see people crying fake news every day while still linking to shit like Breitbart.

I'm not asking that people be banned for posting Breitbart. I've asked that we have some standards as to what we post and self-moderate. When the question opened up to the hypothetical of what is bannable, then I put forward that shit like The Daily Stormer should actually be bannable... that's how we've gone from point A to point B.

It seems now that even suggesting we not allow The Daily Stormer be posted on this site is a bridge too far.

They hired Nazis to push Trump's message to a subset of people. This is indisputable. The evidence is damning.

They continue to flirt with, and sometimes openly support, Nazi sympathizers. This is on record and there for everyone to see in their own words.

There is no equivalency between Salon's SJW bed-wetting and NAZIs.
