Open Discussion (Cavs + related issues)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's not exactly like Delly has been lighting it up for Milwaukee. After back to back seasons of shooting 40 percent from three for the Cavs, Delly shot 36.7% from three last season and is shooting 37.1 % from three this year. In fact from the field in general, he shot a woeful 39% last year and an even worse 38.3% this year. And though he went to Milwaukee to be starter, he was relegated to the bench before long last season and has continued in that role this year.
You cannot cite those 3P% statistics in isolation as being significant of anything in particular, it could be a drop-off in ability or it could be he isn't getting the good looks he got by sharing the floor with LeBron. I'll argue it was the latter. Delly brought hustle, physicality and attitude to the defense as well as savvy play-making and 3P shooting in Cleveland, where he was the better fit. The Cavs missed him last year and they still miss him. To back that up, Lue actually had Shump playing point guard this year. Delly was the anti-Shump for Cleveland, an antidote to the malaise.

I have a feeling we're going to get blown out by the Raptors without two of their starting lineup. Their bench guys are basically the opposite of anyone on our team. So much energy.

Lowry (probably out) and Ibaka are out for tonights game against us

Myles Turner will miss tomorrows game against us too.

This part won’t get reported publicly but Lue tore LeBron up in this session and challenged him personally to anchor the D. Same way he did earlier in the year when Bron was seemingly playing the wrong defensive scheme on purpose.

I think the Raps might be in for an ass beating especially with Ibaka and Lowry out.
It's ridiculous that a 33 year old has to anchor the defense but if he can conserve energy handling the ball less and can pick and roll for Isaiah and be fed 2-3 more spot ups a game he should have the energy to fly around more. The most exhaustive job on offense is being the PnR ballhandler especially because a lot of teams are content switching his screens and forcing a Le Iso

It's become obvious too that attacking his dribble and swiping at the ball will cause Lebron to turn it over and the refs won't call the hand check fouls. They need to get the ball in Isaiah's hands.

It might also be time to Swap Jeff Green and Crowder. Crowder can't cover guys in the post at all.

The converse here is if we end up losing to the Raptors tonight after said film session and with Lowry and Ibaka out, the team is in even worse shape than we thought.

He played the wrong scheme on purpose...
Hmmm...really?
What was that supposed to do?
Maybe he shoulda played the right scheme if he was really trying to teach them something..
Wyle E. Coyote- Super Genius...

Honestly, he doesn't need to be the anchor, he just needs to actually do his part rather than turning into a space cadet every damn possession.

To me averaging 37% from 3 on a non-Lebron team over an extended period shows you are a legit NBA long distance shooter and will probably shoot 40% playing with Lebron.

Delly was never a really good player in isolation but he was a very good role player for us because he A) played good, energetic defense and was switchable B) faciliated the offense in a calm and trustworthy manner (look at his A-T ratio with us), and C) hit open 3s. Turns out it's not so easy to find even a spare bench player like that.
