That's not what I said. These reports were lies to you folks yesterday. Now you're justifying these absurd comments. I don't give a flying eff about Clinton or Obama, but if they come out and said Kentucky or West Virginia were shitholes, people would lose their... shit. Regardless if he was directly talking about the people or not.
I never said that the reports were lies, and I'm not justifying his comments about the people from those countries.

Trump didn't say these things in a public setting. He said them in a meeting and someone else leaked them. I'd be shocked if Bill/Hillary have never said anything disparaging about those states or people from them in private meetings.

Quick look at a graph of unemployment over the past 10 years or whatever and you see the trend line with a consistent descent.

I'm not going to do the work required to see which time periods have the highest rate of decline, but it's declining consistently since, let's say, 2011.

Has it gone down in the past year? Yes.

Has it gone down more in the past year than a typical year since 2011? It doesn't look like it.

Claiming to be responsible for the lowest rate is disingenuous. It would be like Apple getting a new CEO and that person claiming he is responsible for the company's success because the stock price was at it's highest while that person was at the helm.

Donald Trump is basically the guy who scored one point the night Wilt scored 100 and says that he and Wilt combined for 101 points.

He said this in a government setting! Not like he was riffing with Billy Bush. Who cares what the Clintons would or wouldn't say. Trump is the president of my country and this is a stain on us all. I never thought I'd see the day that fellow citizens would be cool with our leader calling countries shitholes. How the eff did we get here???

If the rate had went up during Trump's first year in office would you blame him or Obama?

Wow, Kiddo. It's hard to believe you're real sometimes.

I agree. I don't really approve of every thing he says but it's also not a deal breaker.

We know. That's what we've been saying. We know he's a bigot, and so do you, but some of us cared and some of us didn't.

Trump has been brutally honest and extremely blunt his entire adult life and i wasn't expecting that to change when he becomes President.

Blunt? Yes. Honest? Hell no.

He lies about EVERYTHING. You are not even paying attention. The whole "at least he's honest" thing has ALWAYS been bullshit.

It's kind of refreshing in a way.

At this point you are a parody.

So you're saying all African countries aren't shitholes?

Yes.

He's not blatantly lying daily. Has he said some lies? Sure, but his words get all twisted and mangled in the media.

No. No. NO! How can you possibly come to this conclusion. Yesterday he claimed that anchors sent him letters saying that his bipartisan meeting was one of the greatest they'd ever seen. He literally just made that shit up. And that was yesterday. He literally does lie every fucking day. He's a pathological liar. It doesn't take a single twist of his words to see that.

So Trump is racist? There are millions of people at least a little bit racist. So Black people can call each other the n-word but white people can't? What are you trying to say?

Are you trying to argue that he isn't racist or that he isn't more racist than everyday people? Because it's a spectrum and he's further down than most people I'd say (or hope).

And yes, black people can call each other the n-word and white people can't use it on black people. There's no law on this, but that's the accepted societal rule, so to speak. If you honestly need it explained to you I'm afraid of your ignorance (but I'll try to go into it if you honestly don't get it).

Some countries are shitholes. Human beings are not shitholes.

He said they were though. He asked why we were taking them when we could get people from Norway. You are the one twisting his words.

Everyone is at least a little bit racist. Maybe not 100% but definitely 90%.

What is it with you and 90%? You're just making shit up.

There's a difference between calling places shitholes and attacking people from those places. I'm not offended by the former but he shouldn't have said the latter.

HE ATTACKED THE PEOPLE. HE WAS ATTACKING THE PEOPLE. HE ASKED WHY WE SHOULD TAKE PEOPLE FROM SHITHOLE COUNTRIES. STOP BEING DENSE ON THIS.

Seriously guys. We have now shifted completely from "Trump isn't racist" to "so what if he is."

And honestly, fuck that. That's a stupid opinion to say it's no big deal that we have a president that will openly state racist ideas. He should be held accountable by his supporters, especially the millions of them that spend so much time trying to convince us they aren't racist. Not only were his comments racist, but if you stand by them, THAT is racist. Get your shit together.

I see a lot of wasted time arguing about whether Trump was justified in calling certain countries shitholes. But the far more important point is that Trump followed that up by immediately asking why more people from Norway couldn't come instead of people from Haiti and African nations. There is something very disturbing about a sitting president saying that he prefers the white, blonde Caucasians to immigrate instead of people of color. I can't imagine how much that would sting if I was from one of those countries. And I shudder to think how much comments like this from our president hurt our image around the world and weaken our soft power as a nation.

I said last night that it was wrong of him to say that he would prefer people from Norway over people from Africa or Haiti, and I said that it seems like a racist statement. I'm not disputing that.

That it true and your comment I quoted wasn't disputing that either, to be fair.

I'm baffled by Kiddo's comment though.

If the rate had went up during Trump's first year in office would you blame him or Obama?

If my aunt had a dick, would she be my uncle?

Were Trump to have any policy which directly caused it to rise, yes, he would deserve the blame. Your constant crying about how people are against Trump either way is worthless and a waste of time.

Trump has passed nor proposed no significant policy shift which would have a major effect on this. While I applaud him for mostly staying out of the way since it's working, and I have no issue with the corporate tax being cut in theory (though not at the expense of poor/middle class people), he's hopping onto a trend which was already seven years in the making.

It's a transparent effort that with the least bit of thought, could be rationalized.

I've always felt like you are one of the more reasonable posters in terms of willing to see points the other side makes. It's one of the reasons that I enjoy reading your posts even though I tend to come at things from an opposite perspective.
