2018 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Quite frankly, if you don't think Rosen would say that directly when asked, you don't know Rosen's personality.

And the exact quote from Rosen is "I'd rather be a lower pick at the right team than a higher at the wrong team." That was said when we had locked up the #1 pick.

Go ahead and spin that however you want so you can keep the dream of him on the Browns alive. I'm pretty sure there's an easier way to interpret it and that's what I'm doing.

Aren't you, in this post, spinning what he said?

Rosen hasn't said anything about the Browns explicitly and you said that he's the guy who "won't bite his tongue" and will "tell you who he is", so why didn't he just say he didn't want to go to the Browns since they had the #1 pick already if he's not one to beat around the bush? Is it possible that the Browns, after all of these interviews, can end up being the "right team"? Sounds like you're spinning as well.

I'm not really sure how to take this piece. Throughout the read he consistantly talks about how he is reading the play right, looking through his reads and doing the right thing, but shows us examples of holding the ball too long and making it harder on himself. Even the games the examples came from were absolutely great games for Mayfield. Definitely something we all saw this year with Kizer holding the ball too long though.

I hear you.

That's a risk few teams could take. Like I was saying before, a team like New England, Pittsburgh, LAC.

They'd be wise to draft and stash.

But Top 15 pressure on a guy like him is a recipe for disaster.

Lol, i was just thinking he would be perfect for New England, but i dont think he lasts.

I think Roethlisberger retires this year, but that is a pure guess. He just seems about done with the whole QB thing.

Yes I am. I'm spinning it in the most obvious way possible, not in a way that fits my hopes. He hadn't even declared for the draft yet, he wasn't going to call us out by name.

I mean, this is a pointless debate. Let's just wait and see. I'm just telling you how I think it'll play out.

Louisville coach Bobby Petrino knows the skepticism is out there, and it makes him angry. During a recent phone conversation, Petrino said he had no explanation for the narrative. “There’s no question he’s a quarterback in the NFL, and he’s a special, special player,” Petrino said. “I don’t know who started that or why they did it, but it’s ridiculous.”

What would Petrino tell those skeptics out there?

“They just need to come in and do their work, watch the video, see him, that’s it,” Petrino said. “That’s just talk. Do your work.”

One Power 5 defensive coordinator, who watched Jackson play, said without hesitation Jackson is an NFL quarterback. He pointed to all the naysayers coming forward as one reason why the league has struggled to develop quarterbacks. “Instead of adapting to the players coming into the league, they’re trying to do what they’ve always done,” he said.

“It is annoying because quarterback is all I played all my life,” Jackson said. “People look at my legs and they see I can make big plays, but they don’t really see my arm, and I make big plays with my arm. I scored more touchdowns with my arm than my legs so …”

For those scoring at home, Jackson had 69 passing touchdowns and 50 rushing touchdowns in his career.

As for his own message to anybody who doubts his ability:

“Just find out when I get there.”

I don't see a reason Lamar shouldn't be ahead of Darnold on most people's board.

He's no more or less consistent with his mechanics than he is, plus he brings the added bonus of being a flat out monster in the running game.

Stronger arm too.

No.

Lamar's arm is not that strong. Its adequate but people make it out like he has the Vick arm.

Darnold has a stronger arm.

Which doesnt matter, Rosen is far better than both of them.

I disagree with this wholeheartedly.

Especially given Jackson's lack of mechanics. Same could be said of Darnold, but they're pretty close to even here.

Darnold definitely has better touch on his passes.

Body build, style of mobility, & accuracy all come to mind. Darnold is inaccurate when his mechanics break down. Jackson just misses sometimes which is worrisome to me. He hasnt completed 60% of his passes once in his 3 years. Darnold has completed 67% and 63% in his two years respectively. Jackson has ridiculous upside, but his playing style is extend to run and I just can’t see that holding up in the NFL. Darnold meanwhile uses his mobility to extend and throw.

I have Darnold behind Rosen right now, but that gap is a lot smaller than the one between Darnold & Jackson.

Eagles Vick and Lamar are pretty similar.

Falcons Vick had a goddamn rocket. Lamar doesnt even come close to that.

I still like Lamar a lot, btw. Hes probably QB3 OR 4 to me. Hes right there with Baker. God I hope he goes to the right spot where someone will use him as a QB weapon. Someone like Jacksonville would be awesome.

Yes, Darnold completed 67 percent and then regressed to 63, while simultaneously leading the entire nation in turnovers.
