2018 NBA Draft - June 21

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I dunno man. Dray's always had a special kind of physicality and willingness to mix it up in the paint, and I just don't see that from Miles very often. His only double-digit rebound games this year came against North Florida, Southern Utah, and Savannah State. At the NBA level I think he'd get overwhelmed playing the 4.

Well, he doesn't have to rebound like crazy. They are the best rebounding team in the nation for a reason. Draymond Green played with fucking Adriene Payne as his C. Miles doesn't play the 4 spot at all so obviously he plays more like a wing, but I don't think that this is where his advantage lies, if he developed a powerful post game and floor game and dominated wings with his physicality then sure, that would be a good use of his build as well.

I see what you're saying...both he and Mikal have solid but not spectacular skill levels for NBA wings. Would be a difference maker for them if they could play PF.

but defensively I think that Mikal is far better defending SFs because his length is such a difference maker on the perimeter. If he played the 4, it would just destroy his value on the defensive end.

I think maximising Mikal's defense is more important than trying to maximise his offense for better overall impact, while I think maximising Miles offense is more important than maximising his defense if that makes sense.

Not sure how many 4's that Mikal would be able to guard right now. He's pretty thin despite the great length.

If he's in a quality offense getting 30 mpg I think he has a baseline of like 14-15 ppg minimum. And like I've said, he's a guy that I bet on getting better and better.

It's been probably his biggest weakness, but if Miles Bridges improves his shooting off the dribble and consistently does what he did today, then he belongs in that top tier too. Don't think he he will continue to do it though based on past history.

I fear young might be fools gold. I thought prime Gilbert Arenas could be a comp, but that is if he continues to make big strides, not today. I don’t see curry at all as an apex.

I can't give him Gilbert Arenas at all. Gil was pretty big and strong and long. Trae is a baby in comparison.

Bridges floats to the perimeter an awful lot. Not seeing a natural 4 in his game. Obviously he can play small-ball 4 a lot in the league but he definitely looks like a wing when he plays.

In addition, Miles is the type of player who's going to frustrate the ever living shit out of you if he's on your team. Excellent size and athleticism. Flashes amazing skills. But he has horrendous shot selection and plays like a mental midget far too often.

Really wanted him to take the next step this season and haven't really seen it.

The more and more I look at this class, you want to be in the top 6. Not that there are not good prospects at 7 8 and 9. But to me those guys are going to be quality role players if they pan out in a few years . Nothing wrong with that but that is the type of return we want or need.

I am just not a huge young fan as of today. He is not very athletic not tall and takes a ton of bad shots. He will make the nba and probably have a careeer as instant offense combo guard. Just don’t see the hype some of you see.

Young tumbled a couple spots after his bad week, allowing Jontay Porter and Jackson to leapfrog him.

Not sure what to think about Jontay. His statistical profile is basically unprecedented. Offensively, with 15.1 points, 3.4 assists, and 3.4 turnovers per 40 on .43/.34/.79 shooting splits, he basically looks like a fledgling combo guard prospect. Defensively, standing 6'11" with 11.2 rebounds, 3.4 blocks, and 1.5 steals per 40, he has the profile of a really solid defensive anchor. He's helped on both fronts by being one of the youngest players in my database.

Added Zhaire Smith to my rankings. His offensive rating of +0.39 is actually pretty poor for a guard, but his +1.88 defensive rating has him up with Jrue Holiday, Kyle Lowry, and Andre Iguodala as one of the best defensive guards in my database.

Jaren Jackson and Collin Sexton are two guys who stats and scouts can agree to love. Jackson's already considered a lock for a top-7 pick, and I'd argue Sexton should be there with him.

As always, I'm happy to answer any questions about methodology, and happy to calculate ratings for interesting players I've omitted (past or present).

Yo, I got a mission for you.

Could you add Lonnie Walker,Rui Hachimura, Aaron Holiday ?

Also, I just watched the full Bamba game against TCU.... guy is starting to understand how to attack man.

Shame he faded down the stretch. Still a good game, but was looking like it would be a monster 30+ point outburst at one point. I'll edit this post to add ratings for those players.

EDIT:

(Numbers are offense, defense, total, uncertainty)

Lonnie Walker +0.92, -0.18, +0.73, 1.67 (trending upward, I'm sure, I'll add him to the main compilation starting next week)
Rui Hachimura -2.98, -0.89, -3.87, 3.94
Aaron Holiday +1.56, -3.04, -1.48, 1.64

I haven't watched enough Jontay. Could he be Draymond light? Boris Diaw-type?

I don't see Draymond, but I see a guy that projects to be fucking excellent, and should be in the top 6-7, but you are having hard time having him there because he is not electic/freak like the other talents, and a lot of times it's a mistake.

Less of an athlete than Diaw, less physical than Draymond, but bigger and more skilled than either, I'd say. His shooting really sets him apart from them and Al Horford at the same age. I'm no expert, but it looks like he has a stroke that could extend out to NBA range fairly easily.

I think I've made the comparison to Kyle Anderson before, and I still like it. A better all-around version of Kyle Anderson.

EDIT: Jontay's age makes a lot of comparisons tough. For example, he's younger this year than Kyle Anderson was as a high school senior.

Lol... Kyle Anderson? Slow-Mo? No fucking thank you. You totally killed it for me.

Jontay is probably going to grow to 7 feet as well, Autistic Curry doesn't have the same height or build, so I don't see it :/
