Well, his DeShone Kizer as QB1 last year was totally worth the headlines.

And your Josh Dobbs was better than Deshaun Watson was worth it too.

Cut this shit out. It's a list of players to watch for in the combine and provides a depth look at each position. No one's saying Mayock's list is the gospel as far as players. It's like anyone says a QB is better than Rosen and you're just going to try and slight it in every post possible.

92.3 the fan said Darnold is the fan favorite for the number 1 pick in the draft at 46%. More confirmation that the Cleveland fan base is the dumbest in all of football....The asinine idiotic Browns fan base has spoken.

Wow - how do you stand even being part of the same fanbase as all these incredibly dumb, asinine idiots? It must be so difficult for you!

I would suggest that for the sake of your own health, you should probably shift your support to some other teams with a fanbase whose intellect matches your own.

And then, go post on their boards.

This is where I'm at too, if you're drafting him to be a CB and think he has the skills to be a shut down CB, don't get cute and take him at 4. If you think he's a FS, I think you can start to entertain other options at 4 and look to address the FS spot later or perhaps address it in FA.

Why pigeonhole him? The ability to be both adds a whole lot of flexibility to your defense, and makes it harder to scheme against. You see him back there, and aren't sure what the hell he's going to do.

That is useful as hell.

Last season Darnold threw 13 interceptions and lost 9 fumbles. He fumbled a total of 12 times. Conversely Mayfield threw 6 picks and lost a grand total of zero fumbles. Mayfield completed over 70% of his passes and had 41 touchdown passes. Darnold had a paltry 26 touchdown passes and a completion % less than 65%. Scrambling and overall running ability showed Mayfield miles and miles ahead of the slow footed Darnold.

Yeah...draft a shitty quarterback with the overall number one. Nothing like having another Kizer like turnover machine running the offense. The asinine idiotic Browns fan base has spoken.

Did I just learn that Darnold and Mayfield were in the NFL last year? What team did they log these telling stats for?

I guess I must have missed all the dominant Dante Pettis games. He has never impressed me.

If we're going corner at 4 why would we pass on Denzel Ward? He's proven he can play on the outside as a true lockdown corner, with two years of high level play in a heavy press, man-to-man scheme.

I get Minkah is an impact slot defender, but we already have 25-year-old Boddy-Calhoun there who ranked as the #21 best CB in the entire NFL last season while lining up primarily against the slot. We need to focus on upgrading on Jamar Taylor and at safety.

BBC could potentially move to the outside as well, which makes Fitz a fit.

Great points. This is why I'd like to play Minkah at FS, the position Nick Saban says he's best at.

If we're hellbent on playing Minkah at CB, I'd like to trade down a few spots and take either him or Ward, whichever one is available.

Wasn't Taylor playing the slot more when horton was here? Either way, I think the Browns need to sign and draft a corner and ward would be awesome.

Any thoughts on Davenport? Read on another forum that we were interested in pairing him with Garrett. Looks like his had an increasingly steady rate of production albeit against slightly lower-level competition.

The DB class this year is really deep, it'd be smart to grab 2 in our first four picks with that being the weakest area of our team. If we target Ward I just hope we trade down a few spots to gain a valuable asset. I love his game but I feel his value is in the bottom half of the top 10. It would be a shame to miss out on Minkah/Chubb/Nelson/Barkley who have that top 5 elite talent oozing out of them. It's too bad we drafted Peppers last year and have to try to make him work because Derwin James is a stud who should be top 10 as well. The drop from the top 2 safety's and the next 4 is a lot bigger than the top 2 CB's and the next four.

February Dream Draft*

#1 Sam Darnold - QB - USC: Just like his game better than Rosen personally. I have Rosen ranked as a slightly better NFL prospect due to his polish, but you can count me in as a Darnold guy. His natural accuracy is incredible and makes the game look easy amongst chaos.

#4 Minkah Fitzpatrick - DB - Alabama: Leader of the secondary & gives Peppers the chance to move around the field. He improves everyone on the defense immediately - especially Garrett who will have more time to sack QB's. He's a great fit for what we need, even if the "positional value" isn't maximized.

#20 Josh Jackson - CB - Iowa: TRADE Browns use #33 and #64 to move back into the first round and grab yet another playmaker. A big, smooth athlete with phenomenal ball skills - suddenly the Browns are creating turnovers! I doubt Jackson falls this far but this is my dream and you can't say no.

#35 - Derrius Guice - RB - LSU: My RB2 for the draft and another great fit for the team. Just watch the film and he's exactly what Mike Pettine ordered: PLAY LIKE A BROWN

*I reserve the right to drastically change this draft after to the combine along with everybody else. However, if all 4 players become studs and they aren't Browns I also reserve the right to come back and quote this.

I’ve watched the tape and honestly never been impressed.

He’s got very good athleticism for his size, okay bend. Doesn’t really have a great counter move and his motor isn’t relentless as consistently as you’d like it to be.

Takes a lot of false steps in his rush attempts also, which will need to be corrected as he gets acclimated to a higher level of competition.

All in all I’m not sure he’s a first round guy for me after I actually sat down and watched him.

This is delayed but going back to the claim that the shelf life of elite RB's not any less than elite DB's... Here is the average age of All Pro selections at their 1st All Pro selection, their last all pro selection, the age they stopped being a clear starter at their position, and the age they retired or were involuntarily forced out of football:

So, no. Cornerbacks fall off no more significant cliff than any other defensive position.
