We got a school littered with dead kids and we're talking communism vs. supply side?

Can't wait for this thread to be closed. This is a complex issue without simple solutions, and these threads are filled with posters who would rather play sides against each other than talk substance. Would be cool if we could challenge each other's positions respectfully and honestly instead of people trying to pound a square peg into a round hole that is their preconceived political narratives.

Think a lot of us have wasted enough time and effort here and have no respect for the threads whatsoever.

But please lets not frame people that think these threads are garbage as shit people because they, like you, think these threads are garbage.

Three people disagreed with a post saying he was on the side of less mass shootings.

So that’s where we’re at.

There was a pretty healthy discussion going on until people started playing vigilante and deputizing Donald Trump as the real center of the counterpoint.

Was that "healthy discussion" before or after you said this shooter shot up the high school to help create a white ethnostate?
 
The funny part is that both communism and supply-side economics are both actual examples of things that work in theory but not in practice. The main difference is that in America, due to cold war propaganda, pointing this out is somehow seen as outlandish. The answer, like most things, lies in the middle. Speaking of the middle....sensible gun control.

He was, as a matter of fact, trained by a white nationalist group who seeks to create such a state.

If this discussion moves forward, can we talk about why shooting a lot of people is cool among young people? You have millions spending hours having fun on COD..Perhaps some percentage of these can't distinguish the difference between virtual and reality?

We talk about mental health and potential offenders databases as if these are easily detected. People change and sometimes quickly. Divorce in a family, losing a loved one, economic crisis,.. any of these can push someone over the edge. I would argue that pretty much anyone has the potential to lose their shit, and when they do, some will lash out at whoever or whatever they blame rightly or wrongly for their personal bucket of shit..

Maybe a more compassionate society is the best remedy..

And how would we accomplish that? As social safety nets are ripped away, families are torn apart by ICE, hard working legal immigrants are called shithole country people, collective bargaining is demonized, wages are stagnant, police murder US citizens, Nazis march in the streets and are encouraged by the President, benefits are cut, and tax cuts go to the rich....it’s almost like we have been going backwards since oh, 1980. What could the reason be? Maybe we should go back to LBJs great society model?

So this is the kind of exaggerated rant that puts people on edge. Fears like these motivate actions. A person who believes this is our reality loses his or her shit and boom off we go. On the other side the points of view while opposite are still extreme.. both are wrong..

Dial the rage back and consider your positives. Then we can look for constructive ways forward..
