The General Terrorist Rampage Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I just don't see what makes an AR-15 supremely more deadly than a handgun in close quarters. Ammunition, I get. But the other biggest benefit, range and accuracy as Stannis pointed out, I just didn't see as a huge advantage for a shooter inside a school. Magazine capacity could help I suppose, but what's to stop a guy just having a bunch of pre loaded 13 round mags? Not like it takes a long time to reload a handgun.

I just don't see why the focus should be on AR-15s and not just guns in general. But the distinction is academic at the end of the day, like Boobie said it would be "a start" if we just got rid of AR-15s from the civilian market, doesn't really solve much though. Maybe it'd be a stepping stone.

It depends on definitions. A school, depending on lay-out, is more medium range and long-range. Classrooms are big and hallways are long. I would not define it as close-quarters. AR-15s are wonderfully adapted for those ranges even without a collapsible stock or 18 inch barrel.

Close quarters is a typical houses's room size. For that I would prefer a shotgun because one's reaction time is so low. This is why our infantry units often have the guy with the shotgun lead the 4-5 man breach-team.

ALLEGED SHOOTER “ON MEDS”

Mainstream media will never talk about THIS aspect of virtually every shooting because Big Pharma is their sponsor.

Buried in a local report on the background of the alleged Parkland shooter is a family member saying he was on meds for his emotional/mental issues.

A caller, Liz, explains how SSRIs radically altered her daughter & nearly destroyed her life when a colleague gave her the drugs without her knowledge or approval and another caller, Anne, explains how SSRIs work & how they’ve been involved in shootings.

First off, infowars alert. HOWEVER... there is no doubt this country has a major medication problem. It doesn't mean guns aren't an issue, though. This country has many problems. These are two of the biggest.

I don't know what school you went to, mine would have been described as pretty close quarters. I guess it depends.

Gyms and cafeterias wouldn't be.

Remember, anything above 25m is no longer close-quarters. 25m is not a long distance at all.

Guess it would depend on the school.. Some schools do have pretty cramped spaces..

A bullet from a handgun is slow compared to an AR-15. A bullet from an AR-15 is three times as fast as that from a handgun.

A bullet from a handgun is likely to get lodged in skin and not pass through the body. A bullet from an AR-15 can shatter a leg bone.

A bullet from a handgun will leave a wound that looks like that of a knife. A bullet from an AR-15 will leave an exit wound the size of an orange.

A bullet from a handgun can enter the body and miss vital organs nearby. A bullet from an AR-15 will tear through human tissue and leave a ripple effect that can cause damage to nearby parts even if the bullet itself doesn't hit it.

A bullet from a handgun might require just 1 surgery. A bullet from an AR-15 might require 3-10.

A handgun has kick. An AR-15 is one of the easiest guns to shoot and requires almost not effort from the shooter.

Handgun bullet? Getting hit by a Ford Focus. AR-15 bullet? Getting hit by a Chevy Suburban on a 6 inch country lift with 33 inch tires.

So ban AR-15s.

problem solved.

Despite most deaths being from handguns, anyways.

I suspect that most of those shots are taken at comparatively short range. There are just so many targets in a school that theree isn't a need to fire at range.

True. That is where magazine capacity comes into play with the rifles over anything else.

Right. Ban AR-15s and all modifications that can make weapons fully automatic.

Don't think they need to be banned. But made a whole lot more difficult to get.

Need mine for the zombie apocalypse. You don't want to fight off a horde of Silicon Valley zombies with a pistol.

:chuckle: No they need to be banned. Just like weaponized drones, tanks, and chemical weapons. There's simply no place in society for them. Even when people make excuses like hunting and sport it's still not logical and misuses the weapon for it's purpose. It's designed to cause mass casualty and nothing else. When I see people say you can hunt with it I tell them you can own the road with a tank but you don't see them in the Wal-Mart parking lot.
