Theoretically Ante Zizic

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Has he ever played against Nurkic before? A little experience could help maybe. Can't be worse than TT on him could it?
Zizic's going to show out tonight. He's not going to dominate Nurkic but he'll hold his own, which is far more enthusiastic praise you could hope to heap on TT in that matchup.

Zizic starting will probably be the only legitimate reason to watch tonight.

Yeah probably going to show us how porous the perimeter D is when he protects the paint, but the 3rd line of defense does nothing.

Problem is the Lillard/Nurkic PnR with our defensive scheme. I swear to god, when teams play other teams other than the Cavs they run the PnR way way less, because quite honestly it's not that effective, but when they meet the Cavs it's just a high PnR after a high PnR.

I wouldn't worry that much if we played a normal scheme and players knew their rotations...but that's not the case.

It will be certainly interesting to see how we are going to defend the PnR with Zizic tonight. It might become very disappointing(and not becasue of Zizic) so i'm preparing myself.

However, my post was more about the offensive end. I have no doubts Zizic could get his against Zach Collins and Ed Davis on the offensive end...too big and strong for them to handle. Nurkic is a big, long and strong dude and is a good PnR defender to boot... so it's going to be interesting how he handles the matchup. Don't think asking for the ball in the post is smart in that sense.

And nope, they didn't play against each other in league play. Zizic was on the junior team by the time Nurkic had declared for the draft.

If Zizic can stay out of foul trouble he will do fine.

Hopefully the guys look for him early on offense to get him rolling and engaged.

He's gonna have to set monster screens so guys can dribble into wide open shots to defeat Portland's drop defense and force Nurkic to lumber up a few steps out of the paint on PNRs
