I can live with Sexton at 7. We don’t have a long term answer at starting PG moving forward. Not ideal but I like the future of Sexton long term. He would normally be a top 4 or 5 pick in most drafts. It is not out of the question he turns into an all star pg. could still package the pick for a win now player too. Not going to be a super star like if it was top 3 but maybe a very solid player is available for 7 over the summer?

I'm taking Young over Sexton if that's the choice we end up being faced with.

Curry >>> Bledsoe!!!

Knicks lose by 31. Bulls lose by 33. Nets had a 20 pt lead. And yet we didn't lose any ground.

The basketball gods get very angry when Okafor sits.

The key to a reverse jinx is to fully commit...

To fully commit into turning a real belief into a reverse jinx. Yep.

I also constantly tell myself that I don't care about the pick anymore, especially when the Nets were up 22 and when Charlotte had taken the lead I suddenly started clapping and cheering by myself at 3:30 AM.

Crazy world, Crazy mind.

Ok dude, Portland's gonna trade us Damian Lillard in the off-season for an expiring contract and a mid lottery pick.

Your mood swings are impressive. A couple of nights ago you're in full on meltdown mode about the Nets pick, now today it's rather plausible Portland's gonna trade us Lillard, who is having his best overall season on a team having its best overall season, for said pick.

Impossible to keep up with.

Lillard is a guy you only trade if A) he's on the last year of his deal and isn't staying...and that's it. There's no other way you trade him, at least not after the season he's in the middle of having.

THe only reason we traded Irving for the pick is because of the very, extremely unique LeBron situation of him being on his last year. We couldn't throw a season away. I promise you if LeBron was signed for multiple years, that trade doesn't happen and we call Irving's bluff (or trade him for a different star, like Jimmy Butler).
Dude I really wouldn't go down the mood swings route. You literally said, in S34 of all places so you can't even claim it was emotionally posting, that the Cavaliers were in real danger of missing the playoffs this year. You've got quite aggressive mood swings yourself

As far as my meltdown on the Brooklyn pick, how the hell does that contradict with my statement on Lillard? Did you notice, that in my post I specifically said the 8th pick? Not "well maybe we're top 2 in the draft." Me in meltdown mode over the pick has nothing to do with the followup scenario I was talking about. I have still given up on the Nets finishing bottom 6 in the league. That's what my meltdown was over. I don't think thats difficult to seperate

I'm not sure what to tell you at this point. So Portland will be content being a second round exit indefinitely and paying top dollar to do so? You act like teams never blow it up. Jimmy Butler literally just last year was dealt for lotto picks.

And I don't even think it's likely that it happens. But it isn't some 0 probability event like you make it out to be.

Curry? You are going to be very dissapointed. Young is not as skilled as curry. I think Sexton is more athletic than Bledsoe. More explosive for sure. Again I would rather be in top 4 and take one of the difference makers but have to live in reality

People often cite JJ Redick, Jimmer Fredette and Buddy Hield etc as great shooters who struggled to replicate their game in NBA and become All-Star calibre players like they were projected to be.

However, the thing is, Trae is more than just a great shooter. He is an excellent passer and has really good vision. Runs the PnR very well already. I am not worried about strength because he can bulk up and all but size will indeed be an issue, especially on the defensive end. But most of the top PGs currently are bad defenders anyway.

I was mostly kidding, but I do like Young a lot and I would take him over Sexton. I also think difference makers in this draft could go all the way to 9 or 10. It's a great draft. Hell...last year's best rookie from the draft went 13 and some of these teams have been bad for a long time because they miss constantly.

Exactly. Sexton's direct comparison is fucking Bledsoe. Guys that can not shoot reliably nowadays are targeted. We allowed Bledsoe to just shoot Milwaukee out of the game.

Sexton can become good, but it's going to take him a damn while if he ever becomes one. I love his intangibles, but still...an athletic PG is not the way to go nowadays.

Jimmy Butler was on a .500 basketball team and was traded for a lottery pick AND young, valuable players on rookie deals.

The Blazers are the 3rd seed, gonna win 50+ games, and we don't have players like Dunn and LaVine to add.

Plus, Paul Allen is, just flat out, a different owner than Reinsdorf. He's far less likely to blow up a good team and has kinda proven he's willing to throw money at something just to make it good .

You need to look a tier down from top 15 to guys like McCollum or Beal. That's more realistic.

And the thing is, people can talk about "2nd round" ceiling, but that's cheap. We'd have a 2nd round ceiling right now if we were in the West, too. I don't think it's out of the question for a team like Portland, young and talented, to just decide they can wait a little longer to see if things change in a year or 2 before blowing it up. GOlden State has been getting hurt. Chris Paul isn't a young kid. I don't really makes sense to go blowing up a team just because you can't beat either one of those teams this year.

I really wish we’d put the Lillard trade nonsense to rest because that clearly isn’t going to happen. They’re the 3rd best team in the West and the 4th best team in the entire league. Heyyyyy let’s trade our All-Star for a middle of the lottery pick!

Look at Houston the last few years... they were in the playoffs for consecutive years and just a few pieces / coaching changes away. Hired Dantoni, CP3 comes in free agency and they’re suddenly the best team in the league (record wise... we won’t know their true place in the league until we see how they fare in the playoffs). Portland is just a few pieces away as well. They have athletic wings in Aminu/Harkless, two great guards, a solid center in Nurkic... If they can find a way to upgrade at wing just a bit and add to their bench, watch out.

With all that said —- the Lillard trade, yeh, it’s not happening. Who in the world even comes up with these pipe dreams is beyond me.
