2017-2018 Around the NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
One of AD, Jokic, and Towns guaranteed to miss the postseason now. Tough for even the best bigs to carry a team these days.

All three of those teams have had massive, massive injuries though.

Butler, Millsap, and Cousins.

Also, they'd all have made it in the East. Which is funny, cause I think this is the best the East has been in years, and it's still worse than the West in every sense. At the top of the playoffs, at the bottom, in probably All NBA selections.

Just as long as those GS bitches get to play one of OKC, Denver, Utah, Minny (with Butler), I’ll be fine.

NO Pelicans or Spurs sans Kawhi as that would be too fucking easy.

Looks like Spurs play NOP on Wed. Can someone explain a scenario in which OKC ends up 7th, because I cannot see them losing Wednesday.

If we assume Thunder win Wednesday they can't be lower than 6th.

We the need the Spurs to beat the Pelicans. If that is the case then Spurs will be 5th I believe, OKC 6th, winner of Denver/Minnesota 7th and Pelicans 8th. Otherwise I believe the Spurs become 7th seed if they lose.

I know, I just think it's interesting that a large fraction of the best offensive perimeter players in the NBA play for the top contenders, but the best offensive bigs, other than Love, are nowhere to be found.

If the Spurs lose to NOP, and Denver wins, San Antonio falls to 8th. If the Spurs lose and Minnesota wins, then the Spurs are 7th.

Both of those scenarios are assuming OKC beats Memphis and Utah wins at least one of their last two.

agreed but we all know they're getting NO or SAS. always works out for them. wanted so badly to see KD have to beat OKC by "himself"

Well, let’s just hope the Spurs don’t end up 7th. Thanks for the additional info though.

Is there a way for OKC to be 7th still?

It would take OKC losing to Memphis, and a fair amount more. Flowchart linked in the tweet below details it. Interestingly enough, Memphis is now locked into the 2nd worst record and has no incentive to tank that game.

In the more likely scenario that OKC beats Memphis, here’s the 7th seed scenarios:

I wouldn’t say that! Here on real6ersfans.com I learned that the mythical beast Embiid can lead the 6ers past anyone!

Man, Minnesota has serious cash tied up with problematic players — namely Dieng. No idea how they’re getting out of that one.

He isn’t as bad as he has been this season, but this season was really, really bad.

If not for silly injuries, the Eastern bracket would be strong this season.

A healthy Toronto, Boston, Philly, Cleveland, Indiana, Milwaukee, Miami, and Washington has all the competition and drama you'd want.
