LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
none of us know what he's going to do after this season is done. He probably doesn't...but we do know he won't come back to this roster. They have to somehow revamp this roster to present to him before he decides to give us a fighting chance. Does he want to remain and help build a new team into a champion or bolt to an already sure thing? what is better for his legacy? seems beneath him to run again to Philly or Houston etc...LA isnt a title contender and I dont believe will be even with LBJ and PG13 or whomever they pair him with so what does he do?

Small request...can we wait until the series is actually over before discussing this shit? There’s over 2+ months to discuss this ad nauseum to your heart’s content. In the meantime I’d like to at least try and enjoy these last few games of the 2017-18 Cavs, no matter how it ends.

Well he would have to be really patient, we cant trade the Brooklyn pick until we actually pick a player or add another 1st. I'm not 100% sure, but I think we would have to wait to trade the player drafted too, the Love deal didn't happen until August.

I wonder how much of a role getting paid the full max means to LeBron, because I'm pretty sure he couldn't get it anywhere else unless he does what CP3 did when he got moved to. Houston, his bird rights went with him. Outside of Capela, I'd want nothing from the Rockets in a sign and trade.

Philly will have the cap to sign him outright, but it wouldn't be that full max without a trade, but I doubt we would get anyone back that would be significant for us.

This thread is an utter embarrassment. LeBron is the only player in the league who is expected to do so much on a nightly basis for his team. He has to bring the ball up every time (since no one else except ever-injured Hill and Calderon’s corpse are capable of doing it), initiate offense (since nobody else can create), score 35 plus even when teams are pre-rotating and stacking the defense towards him, rebound like a fiend, and play nearly every minute of important playoff games (because the Cavs are laughably bad without him). The guy is 33 years old - it’s an absurd burden. And God forbid, if on a given night, he isn’t able to do all that while carry this underperforming roster to wins...then Cavs fans accuse him of quitting.

Preach.

It's nauseating to me, fans already setting up another "he's quitting!" narrative like they did in 2010. Rather than call out the role players who haven't done shit, LeBron is the easier target I guess.

I’m “guessing” he still wants the max deal to stay in Cleveland , snag the 200 mill and retire here. Main issue is the short shit owner.

Thank you !! And this all falls on Altman’s lap for bringing in basically all bench players and not even an above average starter. I’m not even asking for an all star . Just a very reliable above average guy who starts. Forced to start 37 year old Korver and Smith who was outstanding off the bench is beyond acceptable

The vultures in the media who desperately want him on a coast other than the North Coast won't stop with it, and I don't think we should let their comments go unaddressed.

That said I don't have a problem relegating it to a separate thread - perhaps in the FA/trades forum - for now.

Latest vulture-ism is actually from a local, Bill Livingston, saying we "could easily be [down] 3-0." Couldn't we also easily be up 2-1?

Last I checked, the "Pacers lead 2-1" part of the standings doesn't say "Pacers lead 2-1, but could be up 3-0" or for that matter "Pacers lead 2-1 but could be down 1-2."

Altman inherited a crap roster when you take into account Kyrie was not coming back. Have a hard time blaming him.

You should be thanking us. There's enough anti jinx in here for us to get past the Pacers.

Most Cavs fan will go back to that as well... I've said it over and over, he would be crazy to not go to Philly if he only cares about winning more rings. At the same time though, it also confirms why he will never be considered greater than MJ or Kobe, or even to Kareem and Bill to the older generation. At any sign of adversity he jumps ship (assuming he leaves this off-season). The finals record is just extra fodder to many. I think being to that many straight finals is amazing, no matter how many losses.

First stint in Cleveland, adversity hits with no help, he bolts to Miami. Miami gets their clock cleaned by the Spurs, more adversity with aging roster, he bolts back to Cleveland. Adversity with owner over politics, and sub-par roster, he bolts again. At least when adversity hits the next time, he can probably just retire.

He is one of the greatest, no denying it. But it's funny how older players are called mercenaries when they chase after rings. Meanwhile, LeBron has been doing it his whole career, once again assuming he leaves this off-season. He could shut that story line down by staying with a lesser team, but so far he has proven to always go where the grass is greener, before adversity inevitably kills it. Even though all it needs is just a little water.
Kobe?? Really?

Kobe doesn't belong in the same breath as LeBron. Dude was overrated as fuck. Chill.

Except philly has an actual nba coach who can develop a system.

Will Bron let him?... Also how good is LeBron going to be off the ball?... Because my guess is Simmons is going to struggle off the ball... Personally I'd like to see us comeback win this f****** series and make some noise here in these playoffs.... Then see how the lottery balls bounce and go from there

It is difficult to be critical of LBJ when you look at the numbers he put up last night.

That being said, LBJ just did not seem fully invested in the game. He did not quit, but he seemed content to play the game like it was regular season game number 18 and he was trying to figure out what his teammates could do in crunch time.

He was strangely passive in the 4th quarter of a playoff game.

This was not Boston of 8 years ago where he stood in the corner and hid, but he was content to act as the PG and distribute to teammates the entire quarter. He never attacked the rim and tried to finish. The only shots he took were ones he settled for long 3's (and he hit a few of them).

Even during timeouts or breaks in the action, he was pretty quiet and seemed to be keeping to himself. He was not the vocal leader some of these young guys needed in crunch time.

I don't know what to make of it.

For all we know, he will come out a holy terror tomorrow, put up 45/12/10 and lead the team to a double digit win and the Cavs win the series in 6.

However, if he comes out and plays like he played the 2nd half of last night's game, in my opinion the season is all but over.

To me, it will be a signal he has checked out and just does not want to have to carry this group in the playoffs and is ready to move on in his career.

If that happens, there will be plenty of time for the blame game, but as far as I am concerned, that starts and ends at the very top with an owner whose only redeeming quality is his willingness to spend money.

If spending money was all it took to win championships, teams like the Nets and Redskins would have won championships of late.

Probably had something to do with him playing the entire 2nd half. I don't understand why Lue continues to do this. It is so counterproductive.
