Billy Preston: Most likely the next LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
based on ?

There are a lot of teams that would have viable trade packages. Cavs have explored trades in the past and will continue to do so.

No irving no LeBron. Why are you building a team around Love?

Love is definitely on the trade table this season regardless of Lebrons Status. doesn't mean they will get a deal they will pull the trigger on but he is their number 1 trade asset

If LeBron Leaves, I think you showcase Love as the #1 option and get as much as you can at the deadline. Decent pick and young player with upside and semibad contract would be cool with me.

For right now I am basing it on what Gilbert has stated
Yes because owners and gm's never make statements of wanting to keep a player when they are actually willing to trade.

I happen to think this FO is not a bunch of idiots and will fish for a good deal if they can get it otherwise stand pat.

There will be teams seeking out Love regardless of what Dan Gilbert says

I think there is merit n both keeping Love and trading him but I think the Cavs get more value in the offseason with free agency
Still the Cavs will have Preston, Nance,Hood, Sexton, Osman and Zizic. perhaps Mathias. Team is much younger now.
I wouldn't sell on Love during the tradeline when the team who wants him probably isn't giving up much because they are trying to contend.

On the other hand a full season as the primary might raise Love's stock

Love isn't getting any younger. Also if Lebron leaves, we need to be in the top-10 of next years lottery to keep our pick from Atlanta.
No point in trying to win games with Love as #1. Everyone knows what he's capable of. He's one of the best stretch 4's who can shoot from deep but still bang in the post.

He has two years left on his contract. The time to trade him is now.
If LeBron leaves, I want two first round picks for Love.

Love can bang in the post?? I don’t think we have anything to worry about in terms of accidentally winning games.

I mean this might be the case, I just have no idea what you could base that on considering he hasn't even been on a basketball court since like high school
I’m basing that on high school and the 3 games he played in Bosnia.

Tunnel vision, poor shot selection, and far behind defensively despite having tools.

So he’s got the size of KG,the ball handling of PG and the shooting stroke of Carmelo. Sign me up.

Sexton -JC
McCollum -Hood
Lebron -Cedi
Preston -Green
Zizic -Nance

That’s a big 4 with Zizic almost making it a big 5. :chuckle:

What makes you think it's a guarantee the Cavs get CJ McCollum?

Preston has met some NBA players already!

From all I read and watch about this guy, I find it hard to get excited. An elite athlete with shitty actual basketball skills and IQ, so it seems. Does not actually fill any need this team has. The most important one being defense.

He might develop into a good player with a lot of work. But looking at our ability to develop young talent with this staff, that seems like a pipe dream.

The only real positive I can draw from it currently is his drive and motivation to be on a LeBron team. Looks like this guy is ready to put everything on the line and grind hard to improve and play with Bron.
BUT, with LeBron's status being still uncertain, that can be gone too.
