Billy Preston: Most likely the next LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Such a fucking silky ass jump shot for a big, too. Weirdly strong. Decent handle for a 4. Reactive help defender.

His Sr year at Oak Hill, really bought into being a big. Wasn't going out and posting insane superstar HS numbers. Hope this is actually a contract, and not just a summer league invite.

I do think we need to lock him up like I believe they did to mathias. Some serious skills there

I would say if Lebron leaves

Nance
Preston
Zizic
Cedi
Sexton
Mathias
Hood
Clarkson

Love, Hill, JR and Korver moved at some point for young good potential, controllable players or picks

We would be in the lottery so we retain our pick that we traded to Atlanta....correct?

Bring in a coach who is more of a teacher and has had success with young talent

That is a hell of a lot better situation than we were in the first time he left which is why I do not believe we make any kind of move for leonard. I do not think Gilbert will allow being gutted happen again

To keep Lebron, we see what we can done for moving JR, Korver, maybe Hill(if a PG is coming back) and what we can add with the exception

If we can get Kemba without giving up any of the youth then we become much better with our three of LBJ, Kemba and Love....and much younger and more athletic

I like everything you said up to the suggestion that Love is part of a Big 3. That is a myth, of which we can disavow ourselves.

Love will stay ..
based on ?

There are a lot of teams that would have viable trade packages. Cavs have explored trades in the past and will continue to do so.

No irving no LeBron. Why are you building a team around Love?

Love is definitely on the trade table this season regardless of Lebrons Status. doesn't mean they will get a deal they will pull the trigger on but he is their number 1 trade asset

I agree. I think there are scenarios where Love stays, but all of them probably include LBJ staying as well.

I can't possibly imagine why we would keep Love if LBJ left.

For right now I am basing it on what Gilbert has stated

Just wondering how you could potentially know that.

From the available tape you can see he gets tunnel vision when handling the ball, takes too many bad shots and forces things often on offense. On defense he does not understand switching / positioning very well. Definitely has a lot of potential with the skills he flashes at times though.

I would kind of expect these flaws from someone who didn't start playing basketball until 11-12 and then missed an important year of development.

I think there's a reason why he went undrafted. But you can always hope that other GMs and scouts have missed something.

Everyone agreed the talent is there.

Issue was there’s no distinguishable tape ala college/Europe.

Perhaps. But Anthony Bennett is very talented as well. But raw talent doesn't always translate to being successful in the NBA. I'm not hating on Preston, just saying you should probably keep your expectations in check. It's much more likely that Preston won't amount to anything.

Dude loves LeBron, Cavs and ''The Land''.
I think him playing in Cleveland is a dream come true for him. I think he'll have his head on straight their since it's the place he picked.

If he can get thicker and fill out his body, I think he'd be a nice stretch four. He's athletic, with some handles, quick, can make the extra pass, there's things to like. I think he needs to be coached up since he really missed a year.

I'm optimistic. :02.47 tranquillity:

Whatever, I don't want to be a debbie downer :D Cavs fans deserve to be hopeful about something.

He was only in Europe for 3 games. Reports says his shoulder hurt but he could have just disliked being there. Teams might have been worried to use a 2nd round pick on him then lose him if he refused to go back to Europe. I think he has the talent to get a 14th or 15th roster spot on a NBA roster. His agent might work to get him on a roster vs a two way contract.

I get the feeling he just couldn't adjust to the European style of basketball. It's night and day compared to the high-school hero ball.

The language and culture adjustment is hard too for a 18-19 year old.

Also 2nd round picks have to be waived and cleared to get on 2 way contracts. If a guy is a fringe roster vs two way contract player, I feel like teams want assurances that they will go to Europe for a year or two so they don't lose the rights and waste a pick. The best 2nd rounders who are waived are going to get picked off by other teams and never make it to two way contracts.

This video is long but worth the time, coach Smith is a great man, has had many division 1 coaching offers over the years, but feels he has a calling to work with these players, some from rough urban areas...I'm sure billy left there more mature than he arrived.
