Billy Preston: Most likely the next LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Found a vid from a couple years ago where in it he talks about how he looks up to LeBron and is his favorite player. Start at 11:48:

Would be cool if he got to play with LeBron. He has the perfect size and skill set for the ideal stretch 4 in today's game, so hopefully it works out for him. If LBJ made Hickson look like the next Amare, what could he do with this kid. Just like how any player has to develop, he needs playing time though.

Do you mean Perry Jones from Baylor? Or Anthony Randolph from LSU?

Assertive Perry Jones actually isn't a bad comp.

JONES, yes, Perry Jones. He has all the athletic ability, from the very little I've seen, he needs a lot of work. His handle is weak and his post game is soft.

We'll see, definitely worth the SL invite, maybe you find lightening in a bottle. Maybe you find nothing. Either way, no harm, no foul.

Looks thicker/better built then Perry Jones was after two years at Baylor.

Obviously, has a ton to prove to even make the roster or sign as a two way player.

And to that end, so far all I’ve seen is that he’s playing for our summer league team, not that we’ve signed him to a contract, so afaik, until we actually sign him, any other team can swoop in and sign him.

Dude wants to play with LeBron. Suggesting here that he shut down 5 on 5 at combine in order to pick a team he liked. He loves LeBron. I think Cavs may have made him some promise if he shut it down.

Nailed lane agility test and ranked high on Sprint too.

Are combine results public? I couldn't find anything else.

Pretty intrueging talent. Not without warts, but this guy is unusual.

Im glad Cavs are giving him a shot but I think we need to remember that like with Danny green and Whiteside it sometiems take a few teams to get a player with a troubled development and a ton of talent to realise what it takes to be a rotation player. Having said that this is the kind of gamble that if it pays off gets you a cheap young bench big that a contending team can really value. Another reason we need Channing back to keep the young guys on check

Perhaps we can bring him back as G league coach

Aren't Jones and Randolph the same guy? Neither of those guys had an edge it seems Billy Preston wants it more then those 2. Although now I'm just waiting for us to find a Theodore Logan to sign. Then the summer league could turn into an excellent adventure.

If the back of Preston's jersey reads "PRESTON ESQ." ... and if he air-guitars after every dunk ... that would be very excellent indeed.

So Mathias and Preston are going to battle it out for the right to London's end of the bench throne? As the great Oscar Wilde, then later by Willy Wonka would say, the suspense is terrible...

Mathias is better than Jr Smith so...

Anyone remember Billy Owens from the 90s. First comparison that poped into my head.

It often takes a real coach, like Pop or Spo, to get these guys to maximize their talent.
