Reallistically- How long before will it take to be a top 2-3 seed in the East?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This year to me. Losing in ecf wouldn't be a bad start.

Once a once-in-a-generation player is born in NEO, then add about 22 years to that.

Well, by that math (a 22 year rotation for generational players)...

LeBron (our last generational player) is 33 years old.

33 - 22 = 11

So that means, it's been 11 years since the new generational player (the LeBron replacement) was born in NEO. In other words, the next NEO generational player is 11 years old.

So the Cavs have approximately 7 years until they have the possibility to draft that player.

Sounds about right.

Philly and Boston are going to run the east for the next 3-4 years bare minimum.

Bucks should keep getting better. Raptors are still good.

Barring any incredibly crazy FA moves (like signing Irving & Butler next summer), we have absolutely zero chance in the world the next three seasons. After that, depending on who we draft in the coming years, along with the development of guys like Osman, Zizic, Nance, Sexton, Preston, Hood, and others, then who knows?

Embiid's knees could explode next season. Tatum could blow an Achillies. Who know? It's hard to project.

Warriors have at least 3-4 years left anyways, so no rush.

How about putting together the best young team possible this year , focusing on winning this year and let things unfold naturally . Anyone talking tank should just not follow the Cavs. True fans don’t root to suck. That’s the whole misery loves company issue

There are a diversity of opinions on how we should approach the future. None of them disqualify someone as a fan.

Please stop trolling.

How about 3 years? :)

Kyrie Irving Safari... :p

(and yes, I'm being serious)

Ill pass. Besides in 3 years Kyrie might be retired. I remember seeing he might retire around 30 a while back.

I have to honestly ask, you'll pass for what .. exactly? Like, who do you think would come down the line, years down the line to the Cavs? And with the new flattened out lottery odds, whose to say we even get a #1 pick over the next 5 years?

Guys, next years draft doesn't look so great; and we were a lottery team for years and completely failed to scout talent.. We are now very much in the post-LeBron era.

If we can get a guy like Irving to sign a max deal, then I think we should do it. I don't think it'd be reasonable to prefer tanking versus getting a legit franchise player.

But I could be wrong. Definitely open to discussion about it?
