You do realize the only reason that worked is because Brook Lopez can actually shoot 3s right? You can't really think that playing Nance at the 4 next to a traditional center is only sacrificing "a little better" spacing.
I agree that he's not really a center and he'd break down over the course of a season if you tried that, but unless he gets a corner 3 he'll never amount to more than a high quality backup 5 that's basically the 6th man who closes the game over the traditional meatshield that starts (Zizic/Gudaitis??).
And beating elite teams without a stretch 4 or legit power wing just isn't gonna happen in today's NBA. Houston basically dusted the Jazz's Twin Towers lineup and that's the best traditional big man duo in the league (I don't count the Pelicans).
God help us. We still haven't improved our talent evaluation after all these years. Falling in love with every young talent. Decent piece but not a building blockThe Cavs definitely view Nance as a building block. Did anyone see the article about how the team views him as a "foundational piece"?

Do you mean good in his role or good player period? He's good in his role as a bench big but is very average overall. With no notable skills on either end it will take an optimistic evaluation to project him as ever becoming a permanent starter on a contenderLol...Nance is a good player already...only going into his 5th season next year. Like...I think Nance is way more valuable than the likely bust(just by the pure numbers for any team) you're looking at with #24...
We need to trade 'future superstar' TT as soon as possible.CBS is reporting that the Cavs are working on extending Nance.
In other words, TT is not getting Nance's minutes anymore
He would make a fine 4th big on a contending team despite losing a step on defense. Offensive rebounding and ability to switch onto smaller guys on defense are valuable skills. He's definitely not as nimble on defense anymore, but not completely useless. We need to trade 'future superstar' TT as soon as possible.

Nance went to Wyoming for 4 years. This being “only” his 5th NBA year is really his 9th year of basketball after leaving high school. The implication that he still has an ascension in him is misguided I think.Nance is only going into his 5th season next year.

I don't know. He is pretty smart on the court, had the athleticism, good passing instincts.
I think he is a guy that could put it together a little later. Nothing is truly holding him back. Even his jump shot looks ok. I think he could just get incrementally better for awhile sort of like Varejao. Hope he is more durable
Edit: .Wait a minute 18 + 9 is 27. He isn't that old. Are you telling me he left highschool when he was 16 or 15?
Starting his 4th year this yearNance is 25 and 210D.
4 years in college at age 18 and 4 years in the NBA. He will be close to 26 by the time the season starts.
He is 4 years in the league...1 season is split between LAL and Cle.
His skillset to me says he could break out still. He isn't lacking "too much" in any one area. Def going to look better on a uptempo team than on our snail pace last year
