Dekker's shooting drop off is just so bizarre. He went from being decent as a free throw and three point shooter in college to his jumper being a liability. I hope Coach Korver works with a lot of these new Cavaliers, because Koby has fallen in love with young guys with broken shooting form this off-season.

2 reasons..
1-Koby doesn't want any player who loves his jumper( see JR)
2-Koby doesn't want any shooters since Lebron skated away to LA..

Not sure if many of you are familiar with Alaa Abdelnaby from the 90’s?

If so, you would probably recognize that Dekker and him casually dribble the ball the same exact way....

I'm assuming he is trying to change his shot. Hopefully he reaps some rewards after initially hurting it. .16 from 3 is hard to imagine.

I do think he is going to fit the run and gun system they are going to attempt much better. He generates steals as well which multiple guys on the team can benefit from.

Trying to control my excitement here, but I'm gonna go ahead and and ask the question everyone's thinking.

What 1960's St. Louis Hawks player is he most similar to?

Sure he isn't unathletic, but he isn't overly athletic either. Considering he cant shoot, you would want a bit more athletic ability.

But I will agree, just because he is white, doesn't mean he is unathletic. I just hate the lack of shooting since he is such a tweener. I hope I am wrong on him, but right now I don't see him as a rotational player when healthy.

But we will absolutely compare his athletic ability with other white players subconsciously

His athleticism is his first step which is very good and his ability to get above the rim. He looks less athletic than Cedi to me, but seems to be able to jump higher. Can definitely get the oop.
 
Let's get back to the important issue, he's white. From following tOSU football recruiting for at least 40 years, I'm of the opinion that in general, some black guys mature way faster than most white guys.

Over the years I've seen hundreds of photos of 16 and 17 year old recruits with wash boards for stomachs, muscles on their muscles, and in some cases full beards. Not too many who were white. This is why I give guys like Dekker or Zizic a year or two before I pass judgement.

I think Dekker should be at least as good a rotation player a Tyler Zeller. I know that's not great but he may stick. That's my two cents.

Dare I say, LARRY FOUST ???

Painsville’s own.... Now don’t go around getting your panties tied in a sailor knot because Larry “Smuckers Jammmmmm” Foust was a perennial all star in the league... Alaa was not...

Dekker has quite a ways to go as well... But if he keeps drinking milk ???? Ya never know??? ... white milk ;-)

So like if Foust's daughter and Abdelnaby had a secret love child...that basically tells you everything you need to know about Dekker. Sounds like a perfect fit on this team.
