Hard Knocks

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Well you might as well get ready because clearly Dorsey doesn’t agree with you or he wouldn’t even bother bringing him in for a visit.
Well I disagree with it being a done deal. A visit or interview doesn't necessarily mean a job offer. Dez, Dorsey, or both could determine after the visit that it isn't a fit.

At the same time it's not the end of the world if he becomes a Brown. He's just a shitty person who lost most of his talent and is one of the worst people to mentor young WRs. So, like, I just don't understand the interest buddy boy

You not seeing the downside doesn't mean there isn't a downside

This actually ties in really well with a post I've already made that I copied from the off-season thread:

Guy comes out in pretty much scorched earth mode about his prior team pretty much dragging everyone through the mud

He was a mediocre WR last year

He's a complete ego maniac cancer who would probably be one of the worst players in the league to mentor young players

This is also a guy who literally assaulted his own mother so I just don't want him on my team because he's a shitty person

He blocks development opportunities for Higgins and Calloway

My literal ass he isn't going to complain about only getting 4-5 targets per game (which is likely overestimating his role)

And what's funny is even after all those reasons people will say "I don't see a downside!!!"

I don't see an upside
I think we are at a point where, yes, Callaway and Higgins have shown enough where you shouldn’t even concern yourself with Bryant.

If this team was Josh Gordon, Landry, and then utter garbage... sure, maybe you roll the dice.

However, already, from reports out of camp and a single preseason game, it’s plain as day that Callaway and Higgins are currently developing into better NFL receivers than Bryant is at this point in time. And they need the snaps.

Let’s pump the brakes bud.

We just named Callaway, an unproven rookie, and Higgins, a guy who got cut already better than Dez Bryant.

Better than 2018 Dez Bryant, who is having trouble getting signed to ANY team? Not as outlandish as you're making it.

This is coming from a guy who owns a Dez Bryant jersey ffs.

We'll sure be seeing this

Its gotta be for the cameras

Neither of those players are proven enough to even be mentioned as better than even 2018 Dez.

Get out of here

And Dez isn't good enough in 2018 to take away snaps from promising young players, especially since the Browns aren't in a contention window yet.

But hey, you clearly know more about his game/contract ask/lockerroom risk than most of the front office guys in the NFL. Me? I think it's pretty clear why no strong contenders, even ones with strong locker rooms, aren't bothering with him.

Best players play. Young players want snaps? Beat someone out for them.

It’s not really that complicated. Competition brings out the best in anyone, and it’s something we’ve been sorely lacking in for quite a while now.

Bonus content - If we were tanking for a top QB, why waste a second rounder on Kizer? That was the moment I turned on The Tank. Tank right or don't tank at all.

Because if you don't have a franchise QB, you should be drafting a QB every year until you find one. We took a shot on Kizer. It didn't pan out, but I have no issue with the team taking the shot.

Dak has more wins as our whole franchise since 2011 in two seasons as a pro.

Dak also looked like microwaved dog shit in the games Elliott was out. Maybe the team's success is not entirely attributable to him.

For the record, I think Dak is a solid QB, but he's a hell of a lot closer to the Tyrod Taylor end of the spectrum (fine QB, not a franchise guy) than the Aaron Rodgers end. You can win with him if you have the right personnel, but he's not going to will your team to victory like the elite guys can.

I disagree, the second and third rounds are where you find solid starters at non-priority positions. We could go through this all over again, but it looks to me like the Browns finally won't have to go through it for the next decade. Let's all enjoy the quarterback search ending.

This current state of Dez Bryant?

Sure, I did.

He’s not as fast as he once was, he’s often injured, he’s a terrible route runner, he drops an obscene number of balls, and he is a locker room problem.

So, yes, I’d rather the 3rd receiver snaps go to Callaway or Higgins. Their development is better for this team than one disappointing year of Dez Bryant.

You’re actually doing a better job of convincing me that you haven’t watched Dez Bryant recently than convincing me that he’s in for some career revival in Cleveland.

If Dez was willing to compete and knew he’d have to earn any snaps he sees, sure. However, that guy often seen screaming on the sidelines for not getting him the ball doesn’t seem like the type to accept a lesser role.

We've won a whole 1 game in 2 years and ya'll are talking about morals and shit. Its time to win. Whether or not Dez can help this team is Dorsey's call; he knows better than any armchair QB on here. WR has been a huge weakness on this team for as long as I can remember and ya'll are so against adding someone who might help with that. As talented as Gordon and Callaway are, it seems very naive to count on them.

For the record, Rapoport said he turned down a 3 yr, 21 mil offer from the Ravens. Teams are interested.

Then if he doesn’t win the job you cut him. It’s really not all that crazy of an idea.. we have 52 mil in free space doing nothing.
