Theoretically Ante Zizic

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This team is going to really struggle in the half court. Zizic excels at half court offense. He is easy offense.

I hope, at some time, Lue realizes this problem. It's all well and good to say you want TT to play. But when push comes to shove, the lack of scoring is going to sink this team. And Zizic is a clear option.

Totally agree that they need him because he scores easily in the half court. Like he might be 2nd or 3rd best scorer on the team. You can't bury that when you need scoring.

2) Cavaliers front office lost perhaps the second best player in Cavs history for almost nothing, when he still had two years left on his contract (T/F)

We got Zizic for him. Long live the Zizic thread!

Lue's "play with pace" dogma is not going to work all the time. It may not even work most of the time, and it probably won't work very often in the playoffs. Sure, if you are loaded with high-end talent like the Warriors, then you can pretty much dictate the style you are going to play, and force everyone to react to you. But we're nowhere near that level.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a general philosophy of wanting to run out on the break where possible, but you don't need all 5 guys sprinting down the court. Usually, you've got at least 1-2 guys whose job it is to get the rebound or inbound to start the break. And that can be a guy who doesn't run like Usain Bolt.

It's simply frustrating to think that one of the few legitimate half-court offensive talents we have won't be in the usual rotation because Lue doesn't like his style.

Kevin love will no doubt be around 20 ppg game. No doubt in my mind that if you give zizic 20 mins a game he will give you 12-14 ppts and 7 boards. He scores easily inside. Solid mid range jumper. Look at his freakin shooting percentage

Agree, I have no doubt as well.

Unfortunately I just don't see Lue giving him much playing time. If there's one thing these preseason games has shown us, it's that Zizic is buried pretty deeply down the depth chart.

You don't have to read between the line to figure out what Lue thinks. He's flatly said that TT and Nance will split the minutes at center.

Cavs coaching staff are "Anti" Zizic... Guy is an efficient scorer with sure hands and set mean screens, should be atleast 10 minutes a game... If the Marcin Gortat, Enes Kanter and Boban's of the world can play in their teams why can't this guy play even on spot minutes... A team like the Spurs gonna like this type of players... He might be this years Cedi, only given time to play when the roster is depleted by injuries and ther is no choice

Hopefully we highlight TT early, he has a good start to the season and we dump his ass in a trade at the deadline. Then Zizic would give us a different look from Nance off the bench.

He was already that last year, tbh.

When he was starting, he was clearly the 2nd best option with LeBron. And LeBron definitely noticed that as well.

It's just frustrating. I just hope the FO has the foresight to keep him on the team until the coach is ready to use him.

Ante had a hard night against the Pistons but still produced a bit and Drew some fouls. That one dive to the basket on the run was really cool. Great hands. I think the game is still a little fast for him and he needs to have a little more pop and get into it quicker.

Drummond definitely took advantage and went at Zizic hitting him pretty hard at times. It will be interesting to see what Lue does against them as today he said he was fucking around with those big matchups to see how he could defend them. He basically laughed at himself putting Ante on Griffin.

Zizic was not able to get good position on Drummond in the post. Got blocked by Griffin there. To be fair Drummond is a load for anyone and is one of the few guys who is bigger stronger and more athletic than Zizic. Good humbling experience for the young man .

I haven't had the chance to see much of the preseason but I did get to watch the tail end of the Detroit game. IDK how you're saying Drummond is bigger or stronger than Zizic. More athletic, sure. But when I was watching Drummond was trying hard to go at Zizic and Zizic looked stronger physically. There was at least one and maybe 2 plays where Drummond bounced off Zizic like he ran into a steel post. Seeing this there is no way in hell that Zizic is at any disadvantage strength-wise with Drummond, who I always thought was one of the stronger guys in the league. By extension I don't think Zizic can be bullied by anyone if he gets to the right spots in time.

I think Zizic still has some things to learn about proper positioning but he gets shit on by the refs a lot with quick whistles when he is perfectly still and vertical while defending around the rim.

Lue said he didn't "reveal his hand". I think he put Zizic in a really tough spot. I saw both good and bad with the matchup, but it was the game I thought Zizic struggled the most.

Drummond did seem to keep Zizic from getting good post position. It will be good to see in a real game. TT didn't have a good game against him either.

That's good if he wasn't flustered by Drummonds strength. I think he has probably never played against a guy as big or athletic as Drummond though and it was clear he was trying to sort it out.

It really isn't a big criticism. Rookie/sophomore big men have a lot to learn about the league. Every big man has a different set of skills and it seems like you have to be a starter for 2 years to learn everyone and how to play them.
